Those are all flat windows. Why not just install some thin clear styrene?  Either like John described earlier, or just glue in some flat pieces.  Plus the thin styrene will look more realistic *clearer and with less distortion) than the thicker injection-molded windows.

I just wanted an excuse to say - "I wish Atlas still brought in parts."

FWIW the glazing in the plows is simply clear acetate cut to fit, it is not molded glazing.

Use a Walthers caboose jewel case to make windows

Ok, I brought mine home today.

Overall it's ok. Definitely an improvement on the Walthers version but for $20 I expected a bit more.

I would've thought they'd at least have painted the roof black and done the headlights silver or something.

Again, nothing that can't easily be done, but it would've been a nice upgrade.

When I first saw the announcement of the tooling purchase, I was hoping at a minimum they'd take the little triangle off the bottom of the wings and maybe thin out the walkways.  The pipe dream was new tooling for the front front which was generally a much smaller wheelbase.

The little triangle is prototypical, so I don't see why they would remove it. Many RRs cut them off,(or just didn't order the option, maybe?) and I did the same with an hobby knife, super easy, so I would not let it stop you, unless you don't own a hobby knife. I agree 100% about the roofwalkways...Man those are THICK!

Is it just the photo Ed or does the glazing not fit tightly into the corners?
Haven't seen one up close yet.

I know there a a few that have it but the vast majority don't.  I've never seen anything to suggest they were 'cut off'.  Yes it's fairly easy to cut yourself as long as you can remove the wing without damaging the model.  You will probably break all the mounting/alignment pins.

Really I was just hoping Atlas would do something besides just doubling the price.  The glass sounded nice when I thought it might be flush.

The running boards look like 6x8’s. :o Won’t warp; it’s safer that way😬

I am glad Atlas did these . Roofwalk replacement therapy makes for an easy noticeable beauty upgrade .

If they'd made the changes everyone is requesting, the necessary re-tooling would probably have seen it end up on the shelves for three to four times the price.

You are correct about the wheel base

Sure, the front truck's wheelbase is shorter, but all you can see (and from very low angle) is just the small portion of the wheels. While I do like accurate models, in this case I would not really expect them to tool up a new (unique) truck (likely not used anywhere else), just to correct the wheelbase. I would rather see them redo the roofwalk, or flush-mounted window glass.

Just the photo. They're good in person.
