With a steam generator.

And roof-top torpedo air tanks and TrainPhone antenna.  I believe the air tanks are on the roof to allow for a larger fuel tank.

I believe it's to allow for a water tank for the steam generator.

Yes, that makes more sense. I knew it was to make room for some kind of liquid.

Got mine, will definitely have to fix the couplers.

When I get around to dimming the lights, I will spray over the seats with some sort of flat finish to take the gloss off that upholstery. :o

Otherwise, a very nice (expensive) car.

It's an ES-15MS.
From what I can see, for the Valpo "dummy" (local), not only do you need an ES-15-ms, you may need that particular ES-15-ms- #8551.  I have a copy of Trackside around Chicago 1957-1965 (DeRouin).  It has 2 photos of the Valpo local, taken by George Speir, one in 1963 and another in 1964, both with 8551 on point.  Also found this shot on Flickr- https://live.staticflickr.com/616/22661661113_61817edb2c_b.jpg (hope that worked)

I have a mind like a steel trap...a VERY rusty, old steel trap.

Either 8551 or 8552.
