Resin Printers in a Dusty Environment?

I'm busily clearing space in the workshop for the Photon arriving Tuesday, and it dawned on me that the normally-dusty surroundings would likely play havoc with vats of viscous and gooey fluids, and precision mechanicals. The workshop does not share the HVAC and its filtration for the layout room and studio, and sees all sorts of projects involving power cutting, sanding, spraying... you-name-it... and of course we won't mention the dust kicked-up from the alley in back (with the mediocre seal around the roll-up door).

IOW, not a "clean room", far from it. What sort of environment do you guys have for your printers? While I will continue with the clean-up and scrub effort in the workshop since it needs it anyway, I think we need to free-up a 2x4 folding table and park the printer and support room in the layout room for the time being.

Yes? No? Maybe?

Mine is sitting on my kitchen counter 

I detach the prints onto Styrofoam plates and take them to the basement for clean up.

 I have both of mine on one of the workbenches in the layout room.

Mine is indoors, in the train room.  For the most part I'm not generating big dust in there.  I try to take that stuff outside. 

It will never hurt to cover the thing with a plastic bag.  And did you get covers for the windows?  Useful if you want to leave resin in the machine for a few days while working on a project.

I have magnetic covers for heat vents on my windows. Left resin in it for 3 months, stirred it with a plastic spoon and pressed the play button.

OK on the vent covers, will get them next trip to Menards. Thanks. Was there today to get plastic scrapers.

Mine is in my office. Eh on dusty, but I've been thinking of keeping it in a cabinet to even further protect from dust and light.

Some of the freaks on Facebook who swear these things smell bad build entire cabinets equipped with million CFM exhaust fans and duct work running to outside.

Me: the only time I can even smell the resin is when I open the door.

I can hardly smell mine. Used AC green, white and grey so far.  I see some people losing their minds on the interwebs daily though...

Mine's in the garage - I'd say a pretty dusty area, also frequently exposed to ambient UV when the door is open.  Always keep the lids down and don't seem to have a problem although if I know the garage door is going to be open for a long time I may put a towel over the printers.  As far as smell, I've concluded it must be an individual thing.  Like others, I don't notice it much - in fact the alcohol smells worse in my opinion, but for some it really bothers them.  Since I'm married and have a kid there's probably no chance of me ever getting to move them inside unless I did build some crazy rig with those special filter pipes.

I had to shut mine down due to the smell.  I'm going to try and build some sort ventilation for it.

Interesting... I just opened a bottle of Elegoo white resin to check the odor. Subtle, barely discernible even with the cap held to my nose. I think it would be helpful in mentions of smell, unpleasant or otherwise, to mention the brand and color. I have a spot of resin under a UV light at the moment to see if the curing reaction is part of the odor issue, and still can't smell anything.

OK, that's what I'm talking about, basically. However... the odor thing again, or lack of it in my case so far. So I will probabliy setup the printer at the house in the office, within reach of the computer I do the CAD work on. I can always move it if it becomes a problem.

I have Elegoo gray, anycubic gray, clear green, clear orange. They all smell the same. Guess it just depends if it bothers you.

The best way to reduce the smell is to disable the fans that suck the smell/fumes out from within the enclosed photon and spray them all over the room.

Chris mentioned that a while back and might be a good thing try.  I also need use a way to vent my paint booth so I'm trying to work a solution for both.
