Well, that's cool! I'd be interested in some of the cars for use in the Spirit of St. Louis.Speaking of which:This is a good idea, and I would also mention to folks that the duplex dormitory-diner might be another one to add to the beg list. These sets ended up on other trains like the Spirit of St. Louis, Jeffersonian, and Cincinnati Limited, among others.
Kato is now taking pre-orders of just the BM70M (as well as the GG1 pantographs).http://www.katousa.com/parts-catalog/information.html
(as well as the GG1 pantographs).
Why pantographs? Do the new ones have a metal panhead to make an electric contact? Javier
. . . or are sprung and stabilized? Seriously, I would not expect truly working pantos from Kato (to actually pickup power from the overhead wire), but it would have been nice if they actually could contact and follow the wire, and not tilt forward or backward.
The Railwire is not your personal army.
Didn't Kato have working pans years ago? I seem to remember in my N trak days some of the guys having Kato (obviously Japanese or European) electrics with the option of cat power...

While gorgeous, Kato pantographs (and not just the GG1 ones) are useless if you actually want to have a catenary on your layout. They are neither sprung, nor stabilized/equalized (whatever is the proper term). That is why the "real" operators end up ordering and using Bachmann GG1 pantographs. While not quite as nice lookign as Kato units, those are fully functional.
You must have missed it - they're shown as arriving in Feb/Mar 2019. http://search.cartserver.com/search/search.cgi?cartid=s-1078&keywords=FEB/MAR&maxhits=25&go=Search&bool=AND
