HO scale late 60s to late 70s layout

I've been absent for awhile and have finally gotten to the point of being ready to build an HO layout that will be a mixture of early PC some Conrail and some Chessie. So I'm going to do a TTrak style approach to be able to model different  scenes in the Kent area. I've been acquiring lots of HO over the last several months and hence ready to start building. So I hope to share my work as I begin modeling in HO again. Stay tuned.

Decided to take a picture of one of my modules everything including the bridge is still under construction. I'll have track down and wiring finished by summers end hopefully. Then I can get to the part i enjoy most scenery! The bridge uses Central Valley columns for the inner web members but i add styrene strips to create box girders of various depths i really enjoy building bridges as they are my favorite structures to model. I might try to talk you out of Hydrocal over the foam.  I don't know how well it will stick to the foam, and it just adds a lot of weight, not to mention its mess.  And, don't rinse it down the sink when you clean up, or you'll clog up the drain.

I suggest lightweight spackling.  Unlike joint compound, you can slather lightweight spackling on thicker without nearly as much cracking.  Once dry, lightweight sparkling is the consistency of foam, so it's easy to modify, if necessary.  Clean up?  Wipe off the putty knife and close the container.  Done.  I like to buy it in the gallon-sized buckets.
