And about the NJ Zinc diesels, while NJ Zink is not represented on the layout, I have been keeping my eyes peeled for a Key S2 (of course it has to be brass! It's more fun!), but the vendors didn't seem to have any (but I did get some other pieces). Eventually I will pick one up and hopefully give Palmerton some more local flavor.

Can we interest you in a Bachmann or Atlas 0-4-0T to emulate this loco?

All in all, the first day of the show was very fun for me; it's encouraging me to want to work on the layout even more.

Had a boss who had been the transportation manager at NJ Zinc for many years.  The corporate entity that served as their RR was Chestnut Ridge, but equipment was marked for Zinc.  They were in fact a common carrier, on file with the ICC.

As soon as I find the video, I'll post it; I'm interested in seeing just how bad I look on camera. I can't remember the Youtuber's name, though (was a little pre-occupied with everything else going on). I think it was "JD" or "DJ's Trains," or something along those lines. He was interested in small layouts to prove you don't need a lot of space to have an operating model railroad.

Made the same post as Chris at almost the same time, so I deleted the link in mine. I'll just add that Chris did fine. And the train he was running was slow and smooth. Nice to see the layout performing well.

There seems to be a few of us in this one. I was concerned I would be cover in food because I had just finished stuffing my face with a soft pretzel. The layout ran great all weekend and everyone seemed to love how slow I could get trains to crawl on it. Those Life-Like FA's care so little about dirty track I swear they don't need electricity at all. Should be even better when I get the two other numbers.

That's what I love about the N Scale Weekend. No stroller pushers... it's all (or at least, almost all) modelers.

That's why, on Reddit, I usually use a username that few people know! Lol.

But honestly, yes, it's important to have venues to drum up new interest in the hobby (although I'd argue table after table of garbage isn't it...), but I think it's also VERY important to have venues like this to help move people up the ladder of interest and engagement. I know that every year I come back from it jazzed and ready to tackle some new projects and I bet I'm not alone.

The plan appears in an article for beginners and is entirely unattributed nor is it captioned in any way.

For the sake of reference I found the original article in the July 2000 issue of model railroader "the San Jose central"
