Hope someone will post pictures from the NSE Convention. I know most things are already announced but it is always nice to see pictures of the displays and what the smaller manufacturers are working on.

If I don't see an N scale single window coach pretty soon, I think I am going to call it quits and take up stamp collecting.

I wonder how long it will take for the UP 4014 market to get saturated..

And why Athearn didnt just plan the Big-Boy Re-Run for Early 2019 is beyond me.. (you had 5 years to prep for it)..

To their credit, would they have known about the "Big Boy" chalk marking 5 years ago?

4014 2.0 will be making more appearances in years to come. The Golden Spike 150 was just its debut party.

True, but how many Big Boys could the hobby shops in Ogden and Salt Lake City have sold on the 10th of May if they had them to sell on the 10th of May?  Would have made a dent in sending the kids to college. (I did a 2 day hobby shop tour in that part of Utah a few years ago- along with a stop at the museum in Odgen- nice hobby shops in that area)

What difference does "Big Boy" in chalk matter??....
If there was ever a Railroad event that model railroad companies could capitalize on... its this.. and they all come to the gate with 'announcements

Athearn could have produced a run of 4014s in HO and N to be ready and made a killing..

(2017) But how would we know what the tender looks like?.. Eahh just use the 3985 oil tender.... close enough..

Just sayin... Missed opportunity.. (same with UP 4141 but I suppose that could be in bad taste..)

Ohh well..  ~Ian

Lowell Smith has the next two cars for his Texas Special project.

The observation car will come after the coaches.  Lowell has a sample on display and it looks pretty.  He tells me it is a special run on a the Kato Observation from the Santa Fe Super Chief.

The other car Lowell announced for the train is a shadow lined MicroTrains RPO-Baggage.  He had artwork for the car on display.

Thanks for the report pbender! The Kato car is close-ish, but the Con Cor streamlined observation is even closer.

The Texas Special had a number of heavyweight cars painted for it, both with and without shadow lining. Baggage RPO, diners, single window coaches and and I think some 12-1 sleepers.

The last run of Big Boys had 4014 with an oil tender
Which ever side of the track I am on is the right side.
