Gun for hire?

I think I may have located some 3d renderings of the MBTA Kawasaki bi-level commuter cars. These are Sketch-up files. I was wondering if anyone is willing to clean these up a bit and try to print them.

I would, of course, compensate you for the trouble.

With the Comet cars now coming, I am really interested in getting a full MBTA commuter train up and running.

That would be awesome, since the Island Modelworks resing castings are totally unusable.

 Daniel,

I did a quick and dirty cleanup, took the trucks and couplers off, to see if I could get it to print. I wasn't sure if I could do it on the photon, but I got it to barely fit in the build area. It says it'll take 21 hours 17 minutes to print and I just started the printer. I have no idea what it'll turn out like, but I thought I would give it a try for you.

It failed, but I'm going to let it finish so I can see what needs to be fixed before I try it again. When I looked at the preview, it looked like it would print correctly, but I guess the sides were just too thin in the failed places. I'll go in and try to thicken the sides a hair more and try it again. It'll be a day or two before that will happen.

Did you check it in the validator to see if there were any unsupported pixels?

Just did the preview in slicer.
Never used that before. I'm very computer dumb and it takes awhile to learn stuff and how it works, unless someone physically walks me through the steps. I also get flustered very easy when trying to learn how to use a new programs and it isn't doing what it says it's supposed to be doing. I've used video's to learn how on some stuff if it's a good simple "how to" one.

Well I'm an idiot and I figured it out   :D

You just open the validator and load the .photon file and it automatically scans in and either says "No layers have islands" in green or a message that you do in red. If you get the red, just click the arrow next to it and it will take you right to that layer. Any loose pixels will be red, double click on it to zoom in and remove the red pixel or add pixels around it to support it.

It is a good idea anyways because any stray pixels will end up stuck to the FEP and will wear it out quicker.

Not saying it is the problem here, but it is simple to do.

This is what I've got drawn so far.

Working on the windows in the doors, then the bolsters will be next.

  Daniel,  or anybody else,

Getting ready to draw up the bolsters and need to know if there is any truck readily available that these cars used. I couldn't find any clear photos of just the trucks.  I really don't what to draw them up either, if I don't have to.

Thanks

Rod,
Back when I bought those terrible Island Modelworks resin-cast Kawasaki bodies, I looked for the correct trucks and have not found them.  Some European passenger trucks looked similar, but not quite right. Plus even if found, getting them in any appreciable quantities would be impossible.

But maybe Daniel or someone else had better luck?  I have mu doubts . . .

You got any or know of some good photos of them. I'll try to draw them out if I can find some good photos.

No trucks that I'm aware of. I can get you close up photos and measurements if it helps.
