Any update on reservation totals?
There's a shyness found in reason
Apprehensive influence swallow away
You seem to feel abysmal take it
Then you're careful grace for sure
Kinda like the way you're breathing
Kinda like the way you keep looking away

I got an email from Chris to say that they need around 20 more expressions of interest in the U18B for it to go ahead, and only four people have shown interest in the U30B.

Drop a line to chrisd@briggsmanufacturingassociates.com if you're interested in either project and haven't emailed him yet (I think he needs an email rather than a reply posted here)

No affiliation with Briggs Models other than massive self-interest in getting a few U18Bs  :)

Yeah, I'm pretty bummed about the totals. I thought for sure these would be viable.

Anyone members of modeling or facebook groups that might be interested? MEC, SCL CSX goups etc.

I hit the CB&Q, Milwaukee, and BN groups on Groups.io. Hopefully, that will garner some interest for the U30B.

I'd love a U30B. But not so bad I want to do all the work on the kit. Sorry.

Exactly why the reservation totals are so dismal.  Everybody wants one but very few are willing to do the work to get one.  That's the trouble with today's society....everyone wants instant gratification and kit building doesn't satisfy that need.  Many either want RTR units or will have someone else do the building for them.  Definitely a different hobby these days.

But the latter could easily be done. Wanter of U30B buys from Briggs and finds third party to build it. Maybe Briggs could assemble a cadre of builders on their site with interest in contract work, and advertise them?

Not entirely. There are things that would be worth it for me. I'd do something illegal for an SW1001 kit, for instance.

But U30Bs are units that aren't THAT important to what I'm modeling. Would I like a few "easy ones", sure! I mean, I love the early R&N and they'd look great with some mating worms on them. But those modeling interests aren't so high up the hierarchy that working on the models themselves would get ahead of working on building stuff for them to work on.

U18B’s are that important to me, but my road(Maine Central) rostered ten of them. I did commit to 4 kits based on the timeframe Briggs announced. If this is still on hold I might be able to go up in numbers, but not enough for what they need.

I would have gone for U30B but I have a kitbash about 33% done ...

I've been expecting Atlas to roll it down to N for about 10 years now I guess.  :RUEffinKiddingMe:
