Perhaps, but blending it in where the vegetation encroaches on the rock would be a PITA.

It's a day after the close of the challenge, and the rocks are now super-ultra-shiny--if I'd intended for them to look so freakishly wet at the outset, I'd never expect to be so successful. Now I'm going to re-paint all of the rockwork so it doesn't look seriously effing dripping wet. I mean... it's almost frightening how wet they look right now...

Sounds like the chemical reaction between the rubber rock and the clear coat continues?  Is the surface dry to the touch, or is it sticky?

It's a bit sticky, so it would seem the reaction isn't quite done. Crap.

While I don't want to be a Peetie-downer, it might take months or years for the stickiness go away, or it might never solidify or dry.  But maybe coating the surface with water-based acrylic matte clear will seal the sticky surface?

This reminds me of what happens when using white Testors PLA enamel to do the lettering on certain vinyl tires for 1:24 scale model cars.  That paint applied to the vinyl surface remains tacky for years (forever?).
