N Scale Photo Request
« on: April 27, 2019, 02:23:47 PM »

I would like to ask if anyone can assist me with a photograph for my next instalment of DCC Workshop in N-Scale Magazine.  I am looking for a picture of an NCE fascia panel for throttle plug-ins installed on an N Scale layout.

Unfortunately I do not know of anyone here in Vancouver with a home layout incorporating an NCE system with the fascia panels for tethered throttles.

This needs to be a well-lit high quality photograph (not a cell phone snap) and ideally it would show the panel with a bit of the layout above.

If anyone can help me with this, perhaps you could send me a PM and we can go from there.

Thank you,

Tim

Tim, How close do you need it? I have one on my layout facia. But the layout scenicing has been stripped off for a rebuild. I can get you a tightly cropped photo if that will work.

Yes I would take that for starters.  I can send you a similar photo of a Digitrax panel and you can try to match it.

Thank you,

Tim

Is this what you are looking for?  If so, I can get out my flood lights and take a proper photo with a train on the track above, with or without a Powercab plugged in.  Bob [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

Yes that would work; a little closer in and with lighting should do the trick.  One like that and another with a throttle plugged in and held in front of the fascia would be great.  i have one or two other offers so will take the best one.

Many thanks,

Tim

Photography is hard!  Here are some shots.  I can change things around, though you may have already received some good examples.

Hi Bob:

These two I would like to have for consideration.  Is that an NCE cab plugged in?

if you could PM me with your email address, I will reply and then you can email them to me.

Many thanks,

Tim

Possibly - looks like you have set the NCE panel into a custom enclosure which might be neat to show. Can you send the original file to me?

Thx,

Tim

Tim,
It looks like you have this covered, so I will not post anything.

A black panel with black holes in it is a difficult subject to capture!  Lighting and focus will be the key.

This. Can always do a bit of photoshopping, as well, to help differentiate the parts (start with contrast enhancement).

Regardless how the photo is taken, that panel is very plain. No legends - just black panel whit 6 screws and 2 (black) receptacles.  Bob's photo with the panel on a lighter color fascia with a curly cord and throttle plugged in is probably the most interesting.  Too bad that the throttle is not located much closer to the panel (so a closeup photo could be taken).

I should have thought about moving the throttle closer to the panel, but I wanted to capture all of the cord, though I am not entirely sure why!
