I talked to Scaletrains personally and they used Tru-color paints. I used the same paint and the engines i paint are brighter yellow then the Scaletrains turbine i have. I also find the gray out of the bottle is darker too. They said i was doing something wrong. Maybe a different color primer. However i tried gray and white primer and haven't noticed any difference in the yellow or harbor mist gray. KTB
So then what are the Chinese doing over there different with the Tru-color paints then we do here to get two different results. Hummmm.....
I'll have to get the box out to see exactly what it says but I recall them saying they use tru-color so that if any damage happens then, we the buyer knows what paint is used so we can do touch ups.
I thought they recently stated the UP colors they used were incorrect and moving forward they were going to use updated colors. IIRC they said the color on the GTEL is correct for the era but not for the modern locos
Oh great ! So is one to assume that the bottled paints sold by Tru-Color are those more modern UP colors? Where exactly did you see that statement from Scale Trains?
There isn't much on their site about tru color paint but the new HO gevos specifically state what paint they match and all other mentions of matching paint say "matched to tru color paint when available". I only saw this statement on UP livery HO locos though
