That's neat...I've had the bottom half of that in my scrap box for years...always wondered what the top half looked like...

I finished this...

I've got a pile-o-things that need painting, but it's been raining.

Sounds like me.  Fortunately, we now have a roof on our porch.  Without that, painting here, except for small brush jobs, was strictly a fair-weather activity.  Even with the roof, have to watch the humidity.

I bought a modeling magazine from 1934 yesterday.
It cost me a whole Ike! (That's one dollar for those of you who've never seen an Eisenhower Dollar.)

Making steady progress on the Cumberland Station modules for the Railwire TTrak Challenge (https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=46599.0)
There's only 45 days left of the 90 day challenge, so very little time to waste.

The basics of the modules are in place, so now it's time to tease out the details, primarily background buildings on Canal and Mechanic Streets.

You may recall I picked this up a year or so ago...

It was a pencil can I bought in the gift shop of the National Building Museum in Washington, DC, Our Nation's Capital.  I was taken with the interesting facades and the fire escape, and decided it might make an interesting project for the old Office Switching Layout...  Well, I took that down some time ago, but the module project has breathed new life into this idea.  So this week I broke out the paint brushes and set about very carefully applying some color to the single casting.

The first step was to separate the facade from the pencil can... and I also upgraded the fire escape with some Plastruct steps and railings.  It's a little rough, but there's enough to keep the eye busy as a background building it should serve nicely in its new role.

This will be what the average viewer at a train show will see.  Hopefully they'll at least notice that it isn't a DPM building!

I also started day dreaming about the passenger terminal I will eventually build for the Retro Layout...

More news as it happens...

All the Best!

I was able to get some work on the Emerald T-Trak modules today.  I originally carved out terrain last week.  However it wasn't quite right yet.

Last Week:

Overall the shape is good, but the depth wasn't there yet.  Topo maps show the creek is 50 foot below the rail, so 3.75" in N scale  Above, I was only at 3.25".

So, after an hour or so of shaping, I plotted everything out again to keep on going.

In the end, it was only a subtle difference, but I think it will really pay off once we get trees and scenery!

Bought an HO Pennsylvania railroad U25C and a Pennsylvania SD40, getting ready to start the HO scale version of my 1970s era Bradylake layout.

Nice work on that seed store, Chris. I really dig the interior work you did on it, very eye popping!

Been on a passenger kick lately. Don’t know why since that’s wasn't what the Nickel Plate was known for, never the less completed decaling and painting these models this week. Thank God those old Rowa 10-6 sleepers are a dead ringer for what the plate had, also that the railroad had one unrebuilt diner/lounge that was painted up blue and white.

I made less progress this weekend than I had hoped, but I got the left most module base cut out and the layout shifted down the wall to see how it all looks in the space.  Next up is to complete the left most module benchwork and hang the whole layout from the wall rather than rest it on the bookshelf.
