That would make an awesome through train on a modern layout. Followed by dodx cars with tanks and hmmwv's would make me drool.

I am starting on the benchwork for my second continuous running module.  I got the template cut out today at lunch.

I entered the train room this evening with high hopes, but, unfortunately, I ended up going backwards in my progress on the layout. I can't even run a train now.  This is what happens when I attempt ballasting:



More on the Seaboard Central 3.0 thread in the Layout Engineering Forum (be forewarned, there may be some language not appropriate for tender asshats in my post this evening).

After a long hiatus of five months, my layout returned to operations last night.  This was the first of two shakedown sessions prior to the guest session which I have been asked to host for the Railway Modellers Meet of B.C. in May.  In general the layout performed well and the locomotives in particular did well.

This session introduced a new job in the form of the NAR transfer job.  Previous sessions have revealed that the operators for the Septimus Turn and Dawson Switcher are often waiting for some time before their trains are ready, and something else was needed to provide them with work at the start of the session.  NAR Train 51 arrived in Dawson Creek late at night and et out and picked up cars at the NAR/BCR interchange.  I have not modelled this interchange due to space constraints so my NAR train will make its set out and pick up in the BCR yard.  This new job also adds interest in the form of some CN and CP cars as the NAR was jointly owned by CN and CP.

NAR Train 51 is staged at the east end of the Dawson Creek yard for the start of the session:




This was also the first session for the layout's newest locomotive, ex-EL C-425 807 which is seen here arriving in Chetwynd with the Vancouver-Peace freight:




Having made its set out and pick up, the NAR transfer job returns to the NAR interchange with eastbound cars:




Work Extra 810 was engaged in ballasting work out on the Dawson Sub and picked up three newly completed ballast cars.  With part of his train camped on the upper deck at Tremblay, Kyle crosses the Pine River bridge with the loaded cars from the pit at Sundance:




The Dawson Creek Switcher has arrived at Dawson Creek and C-425s 804 and 812 are switching the elevator track:




C-420 632 sets out newly completed flat car PGE 1446 in the Canfor mill at Chetwynd for its first revenue load:




A large supply of custom decals has just arrived so I am looking forward to a decaling marathon over the Easter weekend.

This week I spent Tuesday night with the lady and gents of the Midsouth Model Railroad Club in Baton Rouge, LA for IC Deathstar Night.  Granted they are an HO club, but hey, its Deathstars afterall!
