Rapido speculation

Folks,

They do have a 6 axle diesel locomotive platform in the form of the U25C. This could be a starting point for a M630/M636 which are (largely) Canadian locomotives.

They must have someone in the PR department tasked with politely answering all the complaints about the "rapido" couplers and explaining that they do not have a stock of parts for GP-9s made in Germany in 1968.

                  It has "Canadian" in the wording, could it be the "Canadian Passenger Train"?  Naw. Could it be a CN lightweight diner ? No not spectacular enough. RDC cars? No KATO and earlier Con Cor over produced those. Could it be a GM New Look "Fish Bowl" transit bus? Of course not. A Steam Locomotive, well maybe, good luck some of us hope so. We will just have to wait and see I know it is not a Canadian Pacific Single Window Coach. Nate  Goodman (Nato). Salt Lake, Utah.

Depends how much Rapido is hoping that I'll buy any more of their products.

After Rapido singled out certain MRC power packs, they failed to explain how those units were apparently causing their decoders to fail.
Analysis here seemed to show that the peak output of the MRC power packs was within the limits specified by the NMRA standards.
What we still don't know is whether or not the Rapido decoders can withstand the peak input allowed by the NMRA standards.
I'm still hoping that Rapido will decide to reveal the failure mechanism of their decoders, other than that it seems to coincide with the use of  "train set" type power packs.

What I find interesting is that ESU itself has not issued any similar warnings about the decoders they sell. Neither have any other manufacturers that use ESU decoders.  I have a hard time believing that the ESU decoders made for Rapido use different (more voltage sensitive) components than any other decoders ESU produces.

Here's another newsletter with more physical HO announcements but more N teasers ... One of the molds look like it could be passenger car seats though. I guess Rapido will continue to torture us in the May and June versions .
