Never had one of those on TRW (at least since I joined).  Atlas forum had a much nicer selection of emoticons (including the proverbial horse).  But, OTOH,  they didn't have  :tommann:  :ashat: or  :RUEffinKiddingMe:

Some of you may recall the "dead horse" was the result of Paul getting tired of folks asking for what Atlas couldn't (or wouldn't) do...

I recall - after they released their 8-40Bs - repeatedly begging for the C variant - jeez, I'd have bought a dozen.  But I was beating a dead horse and now the Dash 8s have mostly been retired or sit in deadlines, so I have had no reason to buy...

I built a couple of the support structures for my retail coal elevator project.

Otto, only if we have a man or a ladder or a Model A car next to it, we can figure....

More photos from last weeks Free-mo Weekend, hosted by Spring Creek Model Trains.

I really love this one.  I think that Jeep just stands out, simply by not being a typical model vehicle.

Caught a little industry switching going on.  Looks like someone dumped an old shopping cart.

A new switcher will bring a little sound to the yard. These new Atlas GP39-2s run and sound great!

And it's not a Free-moNebraska show without showing off the stagecoach team!

Little Mozzy got a little restless waiting for the train to come at the cattle grate.

So we brought out the reverse-shrink-ray and let him loose.  Even  played a little fetch around the layout!

Completed a 90 day project.  Nice trailer Mark! I'll have to try one of your new tractors.

As I told Peteski, I'm not a purist. It's MEK all the way.

Started a new switching layout, based on the old Weyerhaeuser facility that was here in Saint Paul, shown here in 2006-

Today I used a 12" x 63" sheet of 3/4 lauan plywood, 2x3 steel stud and track, a handful of screws, some cork sheet and some still wet craft paint:

Here's the track plan, it's about 50% compressed but the number of cars and proto operations remain intact:

The key is that the run around lead into Franklin Avenue is one locomotive in length, opening a gate and blocking traffic and other fun  :)

I have some leads soldered to the turnouts, have to add some to the flex yet then tracklaying can start. Also need to design a cassette for the switching lead, something lightweight and simplified.
