Barn build

Nine years ago I made this sketch set (https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=30855.0), but never got around to building it. I know why I didn't, I knew the doors were gonna be tricky. Thats an understatement (they were a real bear, and took me a full week to do just the doors). Lower main doors are the sliding type with an upper door rail and bottom retainer, while the upper loft doors are inward swinging utilizing duct tape hinges.

Eight doors total meant 40 pieces of .015 x .030 trim that always seemed to find the floor instead of my work table. Persevereance won though, and the completed project looks pretty good.

Footprint is 2 3/4 by 4, and if you have a farm on your layout with no barn, this may work for you. I don't have a layout anymore (downsized to a condo) so this barn is for sale. PM me if interested.

One thing - it looks like you just cemented plain white styrene strip onto the doors?

You'll want to actually paint those, the raw plastic especially around where it reacted to the solvent cement will turn yellow within a few months. Actually you can see hints of discolouration in your corners.

Chris is correct.  He's not talking about the clear windows but rather the white styrene trim.  Just give it time.  :)

I think Gary was saying that he used "clear parts cement and window maker" liquid as adhesive for his white styrene parts.  It took me coupe of reads to understand.

I like building with basswood.I made a 40 x 48 foot barn N scale for a friend of mine.Other than the doors I made the scale is rather small for me to add more detail.

Because they were most likely taken with a smartphone which tags the photo's orientation differently than the what is used in the Microsoft Windows PC world (and that confuses the PCs and their apps).

I was pleasantly surprised by how good a straight build of the stock Postage Stamp barn kit looks. I built this for a Postage Stamp collector.
