As someone who hasn’t been to one of these, how about providing some more details. How many layouts, vendors, etc. Any manufacturers expected?  Clinics?

Thanks in advance

Lots of layouts(!), one or two a handful manufacturers and about a few dozen vendors.  It's a show to run your trains but there are things to buy.  No clinics but there is an auction on Saturday night.  Fantastic venue to just hang and chat about N scale with your buddies (you'll make new ones if you are a first timer).

Pictures tell the story.  :)

I promise all will be answered as soon as the domain transfer wraps up! I'm hoping today.

Imagine going to a show where every table will have something you are interested in, and without an orange Lionel box to be seen.
Highly recommended!

It's pretty hard to beat for the combined intensity of operating layouts and prototype action.   One of the things I love about the Jaffa center is that the NS main line is pretty much at the back of the parking lot on the hillside, all that ambient sound isn't just generated by DCC.   Nothing against Bedford, but this is just an outstanding location in Altoona.
I just went down to the downtown museum/pedestrian overpass on Saturday evening and that was quite a show in itself, including what may have been the last big show of the rebuilt SD50 helpers on the hill, supposedly those are headed now for storage.   You can really find yourself torn between 1:160 and 1:1.

Not knowing your locale, Tom Todd, you can bookend your summer with the Atlantic City (Egg Harbor) event in the spring and Altoona in August.  Both N-centric shows, so lots of "friends" there to make acquaintances as well as a good number of asshats that frequent this site.

Randy is so very accurate with his assessment of the Altoona atmosphere and you can see Randy's excellent work on display as a bonus both at his table and in the T-trak area.

@Tom Todd if interested, here is the information for the show @Blazeman suggested. Would love to have more Railwire attendance.

N scale weekend is worth the price of admission.  Great show.  Highly recommended.  Good deals to be had, great layouts on display, lots of fellow N scalers and proto action nearby.  I've only been to Altoona once and Bedford a couple of times, partly because I live in Wisconsin and it's a bit of a drive.

I've only heard good things about this event, I stopped going to shows cuz it seems they are mostly a sea of big orange boxes with something written on it that starts with Lio..

I'm going to work on making the trek to this years event.  What is this 'bring trains to run' you speak of? I'm liking that.

Oh, crap. I'd love to attend, but that's just too far for this old fart to drive. The Rail-B-Qs near Harrisburg were right at my limit.

@ChristianJDavis1 will need to be my proxy.

Hey, Monty P,
If you’re talking Harrisburg Pennsylvania you’re only about two hours away!   But, We do not serve elderberries though!
