Lee, I had a thought that's way too late...

The Cumberland & Pennsylvania was a backwoods affair...in order to distinguish it from the WM, a code 55 rail might have been illustrative. I would have considered Peco 55 so the tie spacing matches the Unitrack. Since the C&P is static on the module, you could get away with it. But now that ballast is there, probably moot.

It crossed my mind.  I sold off my stock of c55, so bird in the hand, you know?

Also, I'll be adding vines and weeds for the abandoned 1970s look.  Rail height will be difficult to work out by the time it's done.

I never really realized just how much of a 'wooden axle railroad' the C&P was until I researched it as part of the Georges Creek abandonment and work on the WMSR; the Cumberland side originally had two horrible switchbacks, nothing ever bigger than a 2-8-0, and that 'hump' that is still there right at the depot St. crossing in Frostburg.   I'd always thought they had excavated it to fit the turntable in, turns out nope, it crested flat right there into the tunnel mouth and road, and that still haunts WMSR.   It's one of those weird railroads that kind of has been forgotten - it was it's own railroad until 1944

Lee, are you going to blend the sides of the road in a bit? They look a bit severe.

Also, we need to get you some bigger trees brah.

Yes, the road is just laying there for the moment.
I have to get some paint markers to put the lines etc. on before I mount it and blend it in more permanently.
Also working toward some improved trees...  I may have to break down and get some Super Dooper Trees for this and the next project.

BTW, do you have the DKS module with the gentle bend and the rock face?  That might be a good representation of the Narrows leading up to this scene...

Yes.  That's it exactly.  I'm saddened that the beautiful brick arch bridge was removed in the name of flood mitigation, but I guess they weren't using it for anything else at that point.

And the hump at Depot street remains the main obstacle to turning 1309 around for the trip down the hill.  The turntable is long enough to clear it, and the curve into it from the station is navigable.  But the hump keeps all the parts from getting there at the same time.  I keep hearing they're going to address that, but it involves the station platforms, the grade crossing, the parking lots, and all manner of bits and pieces.  And as we all know, if you stack up a bunch of nickels, sooner or later it makes a dollar.

Tamiya 1mm masking tape looks a lot like road lines if you want something less potentially messy.

We'll need to make the necessary arrangements with Dave Ferrari when it's time to layout the TTrak rig...  I may have to forego the DC loop this year
