Repaired the station and installed the platforms and fencing.  Paint next.

And finally, I cut and attached my skyboards, which are 10" high, the ruling dimension of the shelf over my desk where I will display the station module on when it's not deployed.

10 " it is then! Please Dr. Hotballs, no jokes!

Oh yes, there will be ballast.  The unitrak isn't so bad in front of the station, but the transitions at the beam bridge will need some tidying up.

Started shaking some old boxes to see how the background might work out.  Not a final placement, but a general idea of where we're heading with this.

The water is painted, and I've since applied the first coat of gloss.  Still 9 million details to add, and a bunch of buildings to tidy up and trim to fit, but it's definitely happening.

Making steady progress on the Cumberland Station modules for the Railwire TTrak Challenge (https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=46599.0)
There's only 45 days left of the 90 day challenge, so very little time to waste.
The basics of the modules are in place, so now it's time to tease out the details, primarily background buildings on Canal and Mechanic Streets.

You may recall I picked this up a year or so ago...



It was a pencil can I bought in the gift shop of the National Building Museum in Washington, DC, Our Nation's Capital.  I was taken with the interesting facades and the fire escape, and decided it might make an interesting project for the old Office Switching Layout...  Well, I took that down some time ago, but the module project has breathed new life into this idea.  So this week I broke out the paint brushes and set about very carefully applying some color to the single casting.



The first step was to separate the facade from the pencil can... and I also upgraded the fire escape with some Plastruct steps and railings.  It's a little rough, but there's enough to keep the eye busy as a background building it should serve nicely in its new role.



This will be what the average viewer at a train show will see.  Hopefully they'll at least notice that it isn't a DPM building!

Spent a little quality time with the big box o' scenery stuff last night...









The station module is down to finishing the background structures, roadways and details.  Should have no trouble finishing this in time for Railfest.  The beam bridge module has a few more puzzles to work...but I think it's still in striking distance.  Wiring up the lighting for both will be squared away once the layout of the structures is done.

I've stood in the very shadow of this bridge.  Well done, Lee!  One question though, what's going on with the joint between the highway bridge sections over the pier in the middle?   See where the railings don't quite line up?  That must be one hell of an expansion joint to jump!
