I think the GP 20's would be useful stand ins for several chop nose jeeps.  Wonder if they could combine other tooling options, like stick their GP9 long hood behind the nose and cab, to get a pretty real GP9 Chop Nose?  To me, that would probably fit a niche in the bigger market, depending on whether IM actually follows through with their chop nose GP10......I would bet Atlas plays it safe to be sure.

Me too- but make mine Santa Fe.  Given that ATSF had 2 Erie built As, but only one DL109, and there is tooling for the Erie B, but not the DL110 (the Alco B unit), from the Santa Fe point of view (which does hold some sway with manufacturers), a Santa Fe modeler would buy at least an AB Erie set, and quite possibly a second A, so the revenue from ATSF modelers is likely to be twice to 3 times higher for the Erie built.

Jokingly, I don't think santa fe holds any sway with the manufacturers unfortunately, hence no good santa fe steam in plastic...………………….

Well, jokingly, or maybe not....I think the real problem is that Santa Fe modelers are hidden from manufacturers by the vast numbers of people who are not modelers, but will buy any loco or car with the words "Santa Fe" on it somewhere.  Somebody (but who????) has bought those thousands (maybe 8 runs over 40 years) of Con Cor "Blue Goose" car sets with backwards Great Northern cars painted in a scheme made up in Con Cor's office, and the thousands of old Atlas C-liners, and who knows how many USRA locos of various wheel arrangements, J3a's, even the old Trix-Model Power K4s lettered for Santa Fe.  So the manufacturers take whatever steam loco they happen to be making and paint "Santa Fe" on it, and those will probably outsell most roadnames that are prototypically correct, unless we are talking about a PRR prototype or the NYC J3a.

Considering the price that the LL Erie Builds usually fetch on ebay.  I'd be in the market for a pair of NYC units

The NYCs are the big sellers.  I had an orphaned B power chassis.  I found a NYC A shell at a Springfield show for five dollars.  I plunked it onto the B-chassis.  I put it up on FeePay for a pretty good price.  I stated in the description what it was: A B chassis with an A shell.  This meant that among other things, it did not have a headlight.  It got bid far over my opening bid price.  I was amazed.

Spookie rates the C-C Eries "F", but, I suspect that it is mostly due to the narrow coupler openings on the nose that severely restrict the pivot on the front trucks.  The couplers are truck mounts fore and aft.  I have an A-A pair custom painted New York Central passenger grey lightning stripes.  They will run on fourteen inch or better curves.  They will derail on anything less.  They were a gift, so I will not sell them.

I wonder if the cab units will get the same Loksound decoder as the current hood units.

The DL109 isn't near the top of the list, but it will eventually get a sound/DCC chassis.

Well, I got the "if" answered, but there are a lot of Geeps, RS's, E units and even Erie Builts to re-do in that old LL line, so I'm thinking the "when" is years away. Look, PAs too! Think they'll re-issue those?

The Low nose GP18 was already a separate part. I am guessing they will join it with the body in future releases like Walthers did with the high nose GP18.

I doubt Atlas would do that, since IM will have a GP10 on the way.

High nose GP20? that would be the one I'm betting on.

Speaking of the old E units, I wonder if Atlas will tool the E6/7 with F unit style number boards? Or for that matter, a correct E7B?

Is there anything salvagible on the E8? The nose was off and the headlight too. Were the rest of the Es as bad?

There are so many chop nose variations, and they already know which one IM is doing, so probably room for another and different one?  Not that IM couldn't start doing their own variations, but Atlas has an easy start as well.

Unless there's a wave of new pre-orders, I wouldn't count on the GP10 anytime soon.

Here's me thinking the C&EI BL2 I've always wanted would be top of the list!

Seriously, can I suggest a passenger RS3 with a steam generator stack on the short hood ?

I think their E6 and 7 are spot on compared to the BLI offering. They just need the E8's split frame to be great.

Spoke with them in KC, and while they hinted that orders were low on some roads, they didn't make it seem like "cancellation level low" orders.

Just the kind of rolling mud hens I need for my urban switching layout.  Of course, I only verbally told Frank Jr I would be in for a few, didn't actually pre-order from anyone, so I have no one to blame but myself if they don't come out.
