FURTHER Updated Master Sound Install Thread
« on: February 28, 2019, 04:02:38 PM »

Hi folks.

I've updated my master list of sound installation threads, available here:

https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=31981.msg358365#msg358365

If you've done a sound installation and posted on TRW about it, but it's not on the list, send me a PM so I can add it.

Also, I'm trying to track down the threads where we talked about using the new tantalum polymer chip caps in place of the "regular" tantalum caps; where we discussed using a small piece of circuit board to mount SMT resistors for wiring LEDs; and similar "technique enhancement" threads.  If you come across something like this, please PM me.  I DID add Peteski's dissection of the LokSound 73100/73199 boards, which I think is a critical piece of info on these.

John C.

EDIT: I've added a couple of installation threads I missed earlier, plus links to John LeMerise's various custom speaker enclosures.  Also edited my text, a good chunk of which was way out of date.  Keep the suggestions coming, folks.

This looks like a good candidate for a sticky thread.

John, thanks so much. Would you mind adding the 0-8-0 installation link, please? I cannot access the “under the hood” photo.

Thanks again.

To the Mods:

Thanks for making this a sticky.  I changed the title just a bit - I'm going to put the last update date in the title so that folks will know when the list was last updated.

For Bill Denton:  Added message to General Techniques list with photos of how to do a small piece of non-etched circuit board for SMT resistors.

Thank you, thank you, thank you

As a newbie to the blog, I spent time last summer creating a bookmarks of all the decoder install.  This is a real asset.

But it is not sticky.   I did try, but none of the moderators I tagged earlier bothered to do it, or tell us why they won't make it sticky.  :|

Uh . . . well, it's a sticky or pinned or something.  It's now the very first thread that you see at the top of the DCC/Electronics page . . . Or at least, it's the very first thread I see, with a pushpin icon there . . .

I see it - you quoted me right before I deleted my post.   All's well the TRW world.  :)
