Skytop Models R-70-11 or R-70-12 reefer shell

Modutrak master modeler Vince Kotnick sent me this PFE reefer conversion shell to cast for him. Vince didn't like the improper number of ribs on the Micro-Trains car and decided a kitbash was in order. I'm just trying to get a feel if others would be interested if I offered this for sale.

I don’t know that much about reefers. We’re these in nationwide service? What else would be needed to complete the model, ie where does the underframe come from?

Yes, these were Pacific Fruit Express reefers. An underframe from the Micro-Trains mechanical reefers would do in a pinch.

Can you fill me in on what era this car would be good for. My cutoff modeling date is 1967. I'm thinking that they may have been around then. But it makes me wonder if your car is done for an era where the roof walk was removed?

These cars were built in 1960. You'll need an etched metal roofwalk and Plano #250 for 50 foot boxcars will do nicely.

I don't know the whole history but know they were rebuilt in the early 1970's.
