My eyeballs tell me the vertical centerline of DANCE should intercept the half-point of DINE,
and the letter heights should be more equal.
And now I'll shut up. Given the size of this, against the backdrop,
we are talking about something barely visible...

I certainly don't mind the input but it can slow things down considerably.  I have done a little more work on the sign.  I worked on the halo and  was able to find some wavy line clip art for the light bar and adjusted letter size and spacing.  As I've said before, it's not going to be perfect but at this point nobody is going to argue that it does not capture the feel.



I am still struggling with getting nice clear screen shots.  Sorry.

Since this is a Silhouette thread, I thought I would try the print and cut feature.  Once the artwork is done, you print it out on your regular color printer with special registration marks added.  This allows you to then feed it into the Cameo and cut the artwork out.  Super cool!

Well, you already printed it . . .
But I still think the DINE is too far to the right. Here is one with DINE more to the left (which IMO looks better).



And if the sign will be only visible from one side, I still don't like the anti-italic leaning letters.  :)

Your screen captures?
Are you on a PC or a MAC?
How are you capturing the images?
When you open up the capture (PNG file) on your computer, does it look sharp?

And if it was me, then I would slant the letters to the right on the visible side (even thought it is not prototypical).  Somehow that looks more pleasing to my eye.

Ha!  You'll just have to deal with it.  To my eye, the prototype "Dine" is just not that centered and what are you to do with anti-italic letters?

I'm using a Mac.  The files are sharp when I capture them.  I have tried resizing them by pixel and by measurement.  Either way they end up blurry when I download them onto Railwire.

Wrong shape!  :trollface: :D

When printed in N scale size the glass is probably less than 0.1" tall - it probably  won't look all that blurry in that size.

It does look very good printed...and VERY small.  When working on a large screen, its easy to be consumed by the small details.  After it's printed many of them literally disappear.  I'm calling the sign done as far as design work is concerned.  It has been printed and cut out as well as some styrene to mount it on.

Well, congrats Andrew! This has been a fun journey to follow, and I for one, will have a martini, two olives, dirty, to celebrate your success! It will be in a martini glass, artistic license on my part...
Can't wait to see the whole scene come together, eventually.
