Well it started with someone wanting a  couple Moose.  So I gave it a go, and they printed amazingly!

It's pretty rare that a Moose will venture down into Nebraska, but it's happened!  Nonetheless, I had to try something a little more common so I could use it on the Free-moNebraska layout.  Plus, Moose are huge!  I shouldn't have been at all surprised that it would print so well.   


Bighorn Sheep, on the other hand, are usually smaller than deer!  Let's see how they'll do.

I need birds - some water fowl (herons, ducks, grebes), ravens (not fish crows, ravens) for the parks, and hawks for powerlines. In terms of mammals I need beaver for water scenes (hey, it's Oregon), I second raccoons, wolves and foxes, bear, elk, and, I know no one else cares, but I could use some nutria (hey, it's Oregon). BTW, I love the mountain goats. I could also use domestics, lots of sheep.

 Peter, There is a site called "Thingiverse" that hosts all kinds of things. It's mostly stl files (files used by 3D printers) of things other people have drawn or scanned for 3D printing and then uploaded for the printing community to use.
It's great for for newbies with printers looking for stuff to print and can't use CAD yet. When I first got into printing 6 or 7 years ago and before I was able to draw anything worthwhile, I used it a lot just to print stuff. There is even some n scale buildings on there that I've printed.

I get that others have done it and kudos to them but imagine it being done better and more affordably, and the scale getting even better product that before... Wouldn't that be great?


My Arabic wife, who barters for everything even at Marshall's or Ross, and always asks the shop owner if they have the good stuff behind the counter, has gotten to me. I have grown similarly shameless and[size=78%] would be interested if I can get a flock of 100 3D printed sheep for $20 or less, versus the flock of 60 running $20 or more on eBay. [/size]

I'm not sure that cheaper is realistic for this process but better quality wouldn't surprise me.  It also depends on how complete they are.  Right out of the machine with the customer doing the support trimming and cleanup or fully cleaned and painted?

I'm not arguing against doing anything on a Photon. I'm simply pointing out alternatives that people might not have considered. As for sheep, do a quick eBay search and you'll find many options, some of which are very economical (100 for ~$5). Why not use the Photon to make stuff that isn't already available? Bighorn sheep, for example. Mark, that's a good looking animal.
