I'm starting to wonder what the advantage will be in keeping the patchwork MTL body, especially since the cupola and frame are now both already 3D printed. (And likely could be improved upon by someone with a Photon). Why not just get the whole thing 3D printed? Then you'd be able to come closer to the prototype at the same time. Just sayin...
I would consider that project as it's something I will eventually be wanting in my plans.
Sweet. What do you need to make it happen?
Would this book help?
I model the Ma & Pa in N scale also and have been checking out your Ten Wheeler build and the caboose build. I've been wanting to do the Ten Wheeler for a while, get back on it and show me how so I don't make any mistakes. In appreciation I'll share with you a little info on caboose 2006. I happen to have a HO kit by Funaro & Camerlengo that I bought back in 2010. Here's a photo of the kit and the beginnings of my N scale version. Back in the early 90's I bought the Gloor Craft kit but found the dimensions were off a bit so I made a body from styrene and used the kit windows, doors and cupola. The undercarriage was from a Bachmann bobber that still needs some tweaking but it does give me the trucks I needed. Also here is a picture of a reasonable Ma & Pa caboose 2005 made from a Bachmann bobber. The undercarriage is from a casting I made out of the Shapeways part. Mine was so brittle and fine that it warped all to hell so I made a master out of it for a RTV mold.
