When you said "plain-jane brown" did you mean to say "tuscan red"?
Like "boxcar red" which is really just a mundane brown. It is a plain monochromatic livery which does nothing for me personally, but as I said, it is all in the eye of the beholder.
Would this be more to your liking?
Regarding the Broadway Limited, if Kato had done an earlier (1940s) version with a K4, that would have been a big boost in sales.
In that case, it would've had the Fleet of Modernism paint scheme, right? Javier
Please, Kato: an FP-7 in Rock Island. For a short Rock Island set, the Choctaw Rocket with FP-7, three bulk mail baggage cars, and a motorless RDC at the rear would be interesting. While in college in Weatherford OK in the early and mid 1960s, I frequently saw that train but did not own a decent camera or even snap a Kodak photo. Shame on me!
Speaking of Kato SD70s… is there a reason Kato has not done the SD70M in the demonstrator paint scheme? It seems like they have the correct tooling to do this but haven't done so yet. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I'd love to see them do this scheme as their mechanism and details are superior to the Athearn model which has been done in that scheme.
For one reason, not many people will buy a hobby item in the midst of a huge recession -- And it is the only way so far to get a BM70M, as KATO never released separate bodies, chassis and parts for that car. The BM70M was easily the most ubiquitous mail car on the PRR system.
