If you're considering lifespan only then ATSF #3751 trumps it......

I'm just thinking it fits in on any road....

downside is no one needs more than one.

They could also market the Little Joe to South Shore modelers.  The prototypes had different pantographs, but since Kato uses dummy pans to start with, that wouldn't be an issue.

Can somebody please give Mr. Mr. Hiroshi Kato some information and a nice brochure on the North Coast Limited?

Sorry for sounding like a broken record. But I am still hoping they will produce one in the near future.

If they ever do the NCL, I will 100% buy it!

Never listed on N scale poll, but I want to see Kato make an N scale version of their HO GP35 in MoPac blue!

Since this thread seems to have become not about the actual poll set up by Kato, but about what is our favorite locomotive we would like to see produced, I'll go way out into the left field myself.  I would love to see Kato produce N scale models of PKP (Polish National Railroad), SU45 diesel and DU06 electric locos

Both have been produced in H0 scale by PIKO.  I would imagine that if Kato were to produce these models, it would be in collaboration with Lemke (since in the past they have made European prototypes of several European locos for Lemke).

Mark:  I'd also buy the NCL, as most of the cars ended up running for Amtrak, and I could use them on my BN.

Plus, the dome coaches are identical to the GN's, which would allow me to upgrade my Empire Builder, and thus the ex-GN Amtrak cars.

Now that I have a complete NP heavyweight in the Loewy scheme I fully expect Kato to bring out a streamlined addition. Of course I will buy one if they do.

Brian:  Mark wants his for the NP, I want one (in NP paint) for BN/Amtrak, you want one for the CB&Q.  Intact or as individual cars, the NCL can attract a lot more than just NP diesel era modelers.

No, I'm not, so I figured that I would join in for some fun.

Now that the colors seem to have stabilized there is no reason for Kato not to print more money, ah I mean produce train sets.

I am surprised the Bi-Polar and Little Joe are not doing better in the poll, considering Kato just released the Olympian Hiawatha train set.  My vote was for the Little Joe, but I'd like to see it in the Milwaukee Orange and Black scheme of the 1970's.

My Debbie Downer take on that is that this thread drifted so hard not only because it's Railwire, but because Kato's poll choices are such a disappointment.  People in here would have gotten more excited and debated the choices in the poll more if the choices really lit their burners.

Well, I think  the choices are very good, but not for inclusion in the same poll.

The UP locos (Big Boy and the DD40) are a naturals for Kato's track record (even if they have been done by other companies).

The MOW would sure make a unique model, but with limited appeal to general population of N-scalers.

Both Milwaukee locos would be great choices for N scale. While nowhere as popular as the UP, I think that either would sell well. They would also nicely compliment the Olympic Hiawatha Kato just produced.

But if the rumor is true, no matter where the votes go, we are getting yet another Big-Boy.  :|  Sure, it will be a great runner . . .
I'm curious how it will be packaged. A new very long box, or something like Athearn used?   :)

The box will probably be a box just a little longer than their FEF-3 box, since a Big Boy was not that much longer than the U.P. FEF-3 & FEF-2.  Maybe a bit deeper too if Kato does the smart thing and includes both an oil and coal bunker in the box...along with a few other era-specific mods such as the pilot handrail mounted after-cooling coils or the coils mounted inside the pilot.

Here's a photo of an FEF-3, a Challenger and a Big Boy with the tip of their pilots all in a line.  What's interesting to me is how big the U.P. FEF-3 was...
