I added a little bit of an interior to a factory I built recently using some free "textures" (photos of doors, bricks, etc) from www.textures.com and GIMP photo editor. I did the necessary photo editing of the images, which includes scaling the images to size, and in some cases flipping and repeating images to create length. Next, I built a shadow box from styrene, then printed the edited images, cut them out, and glued them into the box. Last, I glued the box behind the open loading dock door. I'll add actual crates and people later, but at least there's something to see through the open door, now!

Motivation to model has been all over the place lately.
I got some advice on my module, and borrowed a hot wire and hot knife from a fellow club member. That got things going, and I was able to get things done. I'm using sanded grout for initial ground covering, and it seems to be working. I had to lay down some plaster cloth first to give the grout something to grab onto. My main target here was to have some kind of ground texture, and something that isn't white when it's nicked or scratched, because this is a portable N-trak Module. We will see how this works once everything dries....

...

Oh, rats! So David and Debbie are at Amhurst this weekend!  :(  <...sniff...>  Up 'til now they've been at the Great Train Show in St. Charles, MO on this weekend, which happens to be where I will be tomorrow. I was hoping to see them there AND see your stuff!

Good luck to all regardless!  ;)

February? In Nebraska? You know I've already served my time there. Brrrr.

Seriously... thanks. It would be nice to get out of town for a couple of days, but Robyn has volunteered (oh, dear) for a month-long project at our history museum reorganizing a major exhibit. She's committed every Fri/Sat in February. I warned her it was going to take over, and darned if she didn't let it. When's the next show on your calendar?

If that bridge once held trains, does it really need the cables to hold a trail and people?  Or was there once a normal center pier, and the new cables replaced it?

My edu-guess is there was a "normal" center pier, and with the much-reduced load (basically just the bridge itself) the new suspension supports narrowed the pier for widening the lanes underneath.

I searched around for "Bloomington B-Line Trail" and found numerous pictures of the bridge - which is apparently a centerpiece for the trail project - but no text describing it. Lots of captions for other features on the "art trail", but nothing about that bridge. Strange.

It's possible the cable stays are the lateral restraints for the art piece in the centre. Those girders look stiff enough / deep enough to support the original rail loads over that span.

Found out a local narrow gauge line had a branch off to a mill and a quarry. Looked for photos and found this:

So I just had to build it, how could you not.

Lots more to do still.

Wow!  That is great!  WOuld you mind saying something about the parts you used (windows, for example) as I will soon start some serious scratch building of my own?  Looks really terrific!

@Chris333 That is fantastic! I'd also like to know more about how you went about building it - parts, techniques, how you created the plan, etc.

A bit more progress on my photoshopped backdrops.
This is at lower end of Keenbrook siding, along Cajon Creek, where rear end steam helpers took on water.
46' tall Tank#4 mocked up in place, water column yet to be installed, as is the fascia.
Really enjoyed getting the tank ready, even if it is too tall  :P

Its 1936 and Altoona shops is cranking out various P70 classes a new Z74dR (see the interior) and other head end heavyweight equipment like there is no tomorrow, but actually it is to preface the rumored bronze and soon to be christened PRR 3768, still being assembled.  The chariots await their PENNSYLVANIA lettering car numbers and stripes, but the management wanted a group photo while their three older brothers wait on the berm.

Coupling distance came out nice IMHO with the integrated step/coupler pockets:

Still considering lighting and interiors for the coaches, but 18 P70's (one not shown, shop ran out of couplers), a PB70, a B70, a PBM70, a BM70k, a Z74dR, and R50b, a B60, and three B60b classes to paint and assemble in enough for a while...  :D  Image does not include two B74b horse cars which were done some time ago.

All P70's were kitbashed from slightly modified Lima coaches using Keystone Details parts: 2DP5 printed trucks, printed step/coupler pockets, etched brass PRR style door overlays, PRR style printed clerestory, clerestory with AC ducts, and arched roofs with various PRR style printed vent configurations per the PRR Coaches book.  As such many classes are represented, some early and some late.

These parts were also used to create some of the baggage and mail cars too.
