Yeah, I’m wondering that too. Like I said , baby steps afterall I’m just dipping my toes into the function mapping water so to speak.  That’s actually the next mapping experiment I want to do.  I’m thinking that the center loco would have to have it's F14 command string, (or what ever the right phrase for that is) in the first column with the “drive” command removed.  So no lights will come on, on the center loco, in either direction when F14 is pressed in the consist. Maybe. Or, just set the F14 row up exactly the same but don’t switch on the F14 active in comsist.
I’ll have to play with that but first I just want to continue to enjoy the high of achieving what I set out to try and do with something I don’t have a natural aptitude for.

@Steveruger45,

Works great!  I followed your settings, but then changed Driving to "ignore" on F14, and the headlight stays on even if stopped (my preference).  The other locomotive headlight comes on when the direction is reversed, even if stopped.  Fantastic.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.  You probably saved me hours of futzing around on the LokProgrammer.

Excellent, I too was wondering if that would be what happens. So thanks for that.  Now this also indicates to me that for a center loco where we want no lights on at all in either direction would need a bit of a rethink.  Hmmmm.  Might have to set up another F key to press to make sure all lights stay off on the center loco in consist.   Hmmmm, this lokprogrammer function mapping is definitely getting addictive and exercising the “little gray cells”.

Dave,

Wouldn't it be easier to just "turn off" lights  in any additional locos? They then would not come on at all, but of course when you wanted to use as a head/tail end unit you would have to re-set the mapping.

Hey Carl,
Yes you’re correct but like you say I would still want the center loco to react as a head/tail loco without remapping it every time I wanted to do that change.

What others have said.

To “balance” the sound in the first instance, I set the master to 80% to give myself some wiggle room on the upside.  Then I turn the horn to maximum, the prime mover down to 50%, the bell to 40%, and everything else to 30%.  Once I have the various sounds balanced among themselves, then I use the master volume to adjust the overall loudness as needed for the situation.  Up for shows, down for at home ops.

John C.

This is also the formula for making Hit Records.....except Horn = voice, Prime-mover is drums and bass, guitars are bell and everything else ....well there you go.

I'm not kidding, you are scary close.

I dont listen to music at all, I listen to rap. :D

No, just kidding.

But I would be interested in making or purchasing some sort of focused EMP devise that I could covertly use for eradicating  those annoying heavy base beats eminating from some teenagers cars.

OMG now I sound just like my father when I was a teenager.

That window-rattling bass usually emanates from really crappy cars which probably wont last very long and will fall apart.

I was also going to say that those teens are just going through ear-shattering music phase, but maybe not.  I still listen to most music I likes as a teenager.  If they don't outgrow that "music", can you imagine them as 80-somethign riding golf carts with 500W subwoofers, blasting angry rap music with lots of swearing, and cop- and women-degrading lyrics?

LOL.  I can just picture it, sadly I probably won’t live long enough to see it.
I still listen to most of my younger years music too.

What I tend to do on occasion is when there is a car vibrating itself to bits in the next lane to me with powerful angry rap (sorry, I decline to call that stuff music) is turn up my audio to max, open the moon roof, and put on AC/DC, hoping the OP doesn’t have said EMP device.
