Were the boxcars the ones with the shortened height to compensate for the truck mounts? Or will they be normal being lowered?

I've been looking at photos of the cars the Chessie boxcar represents and can't find any with the door openers. I'm still going to get one of these but was wondering if anybody seen a photo of a car in this series with these openers.

They're the same ones, but I think they are slightly taller by maybe 1/32" that's why theres a gap at the top of the doors. MT does a lot schemes on these cars that Athearn ignores (until this months announcement they're finally doing some different schemes). These MT boxcars move pretty quickly so most are not bothered by the discrepancy in body height. The compression is on the 60' Hy cubes and the exterior post boxcars to where it is quite noticable!

I like that they’ve designed a new floor/underframe that incorporates body-mounted couplers and a lowered ride height. But the bodies need to be retooled so that the exaggerated height is eliminated. It’s inconceivable to me that this wouldn’t have been addressed when the three new 50’ modernized PS-1 bodies were tooled, given that they still would have been able to utilize the common detail parts. All the mold slides were retooled as it is, so they just needed a new core mold for the interior.

Was wondering the same thing.
