The new location of summit on my cajon pass has been set. The benchwork is a 1"x16 gauge steel tubing all welded construction. The weird raised section on the back is actually a spine brace that helps hold the section out floating in the middle square. This may sound weird but i actually designed this in and twisted the frame work out of level when fabricating this so that it would level out once hung. Its like the semi trailers that look bowed up empty but flat when loaded.
Im extremely pleased with how solid it is only mounting to the walls with no needed support from the floor or ceiling in the middle.
Now it's time to start moving the existing benchwork back around for the new design.

I made good progress this week on several T scale projects, all Shapeways printed.  One is a small diorama including a station platform modeled after Cincinnati Union Terminal's old platforms, and posing ex-GN dome-coach "Puget Sound".   I also painted up a prototype of an SW9, with scavenged N-scale freight car decals... it's not 100% accurate but beggars/choosers etc.. until I get some custom decals made.  Also I'm including a pic of my dummy couplers showing size.  These might be of interest to Z or maybe Nn3 modelers (or other industrial style operations), not sure how they measure up to prototype in the other scales but they're oversized for T (smallest I could get that are still workable) so may be useful for other modelers.  They're on my Shapeways shop.  They do pivot 30 degrees or so (the angle of the draft gear) on an internal post, and are more rugged than one would think.

On my end I continue the work to reliably mount the shops into the layout in an easily removable manner.  I need about 3/16" clearance over the length of the shops to tip them into the hole in the layout and make the power connections.  I have spread that 3/16" of track gap in each of the two east end exit tracks across 3 gaps with movable rails.  The gapped rails are electrically bridged with very flexible jumpers which will eventually be hidden beneath the fueling platforms.



I also semi-finished the platform lights - I ran out of LEDs - and added access ladders which are pinned to the removable roofs for security.
