I don't know about the smallest. You could always run a small test panel with different sized gaps and see what you like. I would prime the parts after so you can see what you have.

Just checked this drawing and the gaps are .011" deep and wide.

One thing I'm confused by on that awesome caboose is the door on the side.
It looks like a sliding door but it can't slide due to the window.
Does it swing inward?  Should there be a pipe wrung below the door for a step?

It's looking good!  One possible suggestion to make sanding the roof alias lines easier, an issue I too encountered, is to print the cupola as a separate part.  It affords super easy roof sanding for a perfect finish. 8)

The project is not done but there are photos in this thread of the separate shell pieces.  https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=46587.msg612739#msg612739

I dunno. I shortened it, but the distance between the door and window are the same:

I guess in theory, it could slide past the window.

The presence of the door is odd located so closely to the platform.   Maybe they just opened and tossed sh!t as the rolled by?

That photo shows the door being inset deeper than the windows.  It likely either slides or opens to the inside, but its purpose it puzzling.

Door height for loading from a platform. :|

I'd guess sliding door from the pictures and envisioning the available space for a swinging door, regardless of swing direction. :|

The railroad was 3' gauge and that is what's in the photos above. But later it was standard gauged and they used similar cabooses. You can scroll and see a few pics here:
https://sites.google.com/site/newenglandshortlines/home/page-1/page-2/page-3/page-4/page-5/page-6/page-7/page-8/page-9/page-10-1/page-k/page-l/page-m

And the SR&RL 2' gauge cabooses had a large blank space next to the freight door, but the door didn't open that way. It opened over a window that was right next to the door.

My machine came today
. Very excited but  Very crazy cuz it came unannounced ,  no email/ tracking from anycube
Oh well 😁
I was surprised at how heavy it really is,  felt solid.  I’ll take it out tomorrow and set it up. I ordered a 500 mil bottle and they sent me orange.    Anything I should know with this resin.  I was expecting the green or grey
Thanks t o all
Happy holidays

Check out this link https://wiki.bryscus.com/display/3DP/Anycubic+Photon+Settings

Pretty good info for starting settings, although I havent seen much on the orange stuff yet.

Here are some images of the most recent print attempt. This one was done at 5 degree tilt. The car floor keeps coming out horribly mangled, I think it needs more support? similar issues with the end beams on the body and the roof overhangs. again I'm thinking support issues.

Chris333, What settings did you find worked when you were printing whole cars?

quick question for you guy:

I set up the build plate and set the new zero, but I will try my first print later on the weekend.  I'll do the test puzzle as supplied,

so... How much resin should I put in the vat.  are you guys using like 50 mills of product or just pouring in and then letting it go, knowing that you will pour any unused resin back  ???
I still need a uv lamp for curing.  We finally got our first rains tonight and it will be over cast for the next 4~6 days.

Many thanks

Miguel

P.S  Erock482   thanks for the wiki link

I've been filling to that step in the frame of the Vat or slightly below, thats been enough to do about 3 caboose prints as ive got through my trial and error.

as for pouring the excess back, use a filter to catch any particles and just pour it back into the bottle
