That line is right were the slope sheets end and the suction to the FEP changes.

Ah interesting! So should I put a vent somewhere in the floor of the hopper?

If you printed at an angle that would help, but then you'd see stepping.

I did a steam loco boiler and cab. Where the running board met the cab did the same thing. So I just angled the inside of the cab to fix it. If you did that inside the hopper you'd see it.

Player 2 Has Entered The Game!

I had thought the yellow panels were the later builds, but then it has the free floating Z rod, unlike Blue with the top bushing.   :RUEffinKiddingMe:
Oh well, 95% of my prints are under 4cm tall anyway, I'll just save the larger prints for Blue.

So, first attempt to start a print on Yellow; while the USB stick would illuminate, no files would display on the screen.  I tried a second stick first, same result.  Then I took the back cover off to find the USB extension cable was not fully seated into the motherboard's USB port.   I pressed it all the way in and now have the first print under way on Yellow!

Did ol' yeller come with castable resin?

No.  :(

And the USB cable wiggled loose mid-print, corrupting the USB stick and causing a memory error.  The motherboard plug really doesn't have any 'grab' to it so  I used a dental tool to reach in there and bend the little tabs in to hopefully give it better hold. First print, take two, is now going from the third party USB stick.

The platform and first few mm of supports on take one printed perfectly though!  8)

Honestly.... that's terrible.

People would now be in the realm of potentially voiding any kind of warranty I would think, if the manufacturer wanted to press the issue.  Most companies don't want you opening up their products.

Got to work on the wooden mine car this evening.  This thing is TINY and I even made it some extra tonnage so it could actually be used.  Made this test print to see if the details were coming out OK and if the mechanicals (wheels/ axle mounts) would work as planned.  I'm pretty happy with it this far.  I suspect another .001" thickness on the metal strapping might be a little better but I'll wait until the light coat of white primer dries and give it a good look.  Still have couplers, end door, and a lot of details to do.

And the pics:

And apparently this one will be for a copper mine.

Thanks, Chris.  There's still a lot to do but it's working.  I've gone to 22" wheels (Nn3) so I could get it a little bigger than the drawing while still maintaining the proportions.  I did one with 18" wheels to about this state and while it all printed OK and looked good it was just too damn tiny to even think about it ever functioning.  This one should have a chance. :|

The whole thing wasn't scaled up uniformly but that change needed a few dimensions adjusted.  I'm also suspect of the drawing scale accuracy because it says 24" wheelbase but then in the end view that has the gauge wider than standard gauge.  :?  That required narrowing the body considerably too while just clearing the wheels.  This was from the first two drawings you linked but I figured out the wheel diameter at 16" for the claimed 24" axle placement.  That wasn't going to work in Nn3.

I also made the fixed end as boards with strapping that wrapped around the side as I had started that way before I knew plus I liked it better.  The swinging door will still be steel as it was on the drawing and it makes sense too.  The current height off the rails will be about .3" from memory, 48" Nn3.

This is so cool.  And the tie pieces are looking like they will be slicker than snot on a doorknob! 8)

Since adjusting the internal USB extension, Photon Yellow has been printing away like a charm.

I then took the opportunity to try a new resin on Blue and opened my bottle of MonoPrice (not to be confused with MonoCure) Gray.  So far I am not impressed, I haven't even gotten a successful print!

Viscosity is quit thick, maybe more so than Anycubic Transparent Green.  Its also very opaque and very very dark gray.  The Amazon photo shows it to be the same shade of gray as Anycubic, but this could almost pass as black!  (Side note, Anycubic Black is quite transparent!  I'd say it's less transparent than the green, but about half way between green and the slight translucency of the gray.)

Each of my initial tests printed the platform and supports fine.  At 18 seconds, all parts were ripped from supports.  20 seconds a few hangers stayed with the supports.  22 seconds the supports retained all parts, but many showed intermediate failure and deformation.  Finally 24 seconds, about half of the parts were successful, the other half still slightly deformed.

I may do one last go at 28 seconds per layer :scared: overnight, but that's getting quite ridiculous.  After this, I'll be shelving Monoprice for a few weeks, then I'll run the resin calibration analysis print.

And here's the revised 22" 6 spoke wheel on that partial wooden cart body.  I used the real NMRA dimensions this time and thinned the spokes a little.  These shocked me at how nice they roll on track.  And speaking of track, that's an example of the track flex ties I made up for code 40 NN3.  It too is working well.  I'll be making a test track with it very soon to run some hours on all of this stuff.  Need to make some #4 switches for that so it may still be a week or two, depending on how much time I get on this. 8)  I will post more in the other thread.

Waiting for someone to design sections of flex for log rails and ties for that really old look.
