Yes they can.  I sure miss Mythbusters. 

And definitely agree on eye protection.  The included spatula for removing parts from the plate is flimsy and downright useless.  Splatters resin everywhere.

I found using a razor blade is by far the easiest way to remove prints, though comes with it's own level of caution.   



Rodney, you mention this as an example, but N Scale Addict @HuskerN already has a 379 Peterbilt model.  Seem's he's vanished the past couple years though.  I wonder what he's up to now days.

The fun just keeps on going!  This one is another idea I've had for a while that I'm really excited about.  Last time I brought up this concept around here, it was shot down with a bazooka.  Well now I have the proof of concept and results! 

Train passengers.  Not the kind you buy 6 at a time for 14 bucks.  The kind you simply swap an OEM interior with a pre-populated extra! 


On the left, Kato's OEM upper dome car interior.  In the back, the 3D print.  On the right, the (crudely) painted 3D print.  (Oh, and save those print platforms! They make great paint palettes!)

Just these 5 passengers makes a big difference, in my opinion.  This is the start of a much bigger project for doing a whole train!

OK... serious question now.

Have you ( @Mark W ) had a chance to compare the output to a Form 2? Price advantage seriously goes to the Photon, but the Form 2 (purely IMO) is stronger when it comes to ease of use and manufacturer support, and what I previously mentioned about the slightly larger build area.

Still, the output is what matters. Anybody compare apples to apples, that is, the same STL file on both printers?

I have zero experience with the Form2.  I think I've shown that the Photon is extremely easy to use though. 

Build plate size comparison kind of depends on what you're doing.  If you need to print single parts larger than the Photon plate, Form2  has the edge.  But if you're able to break parts into sections so that they fit the Photon plate, you get more than twice the build volume for the cost (you could buy 6 Photon's for the price of 1 Form2, with a bunch leftover).

I would also like to see a comparison of the same part printed on each machine.  I bet there's a Maker out there somewhere who has done this.

Did I miss something?   Did you scan that interior with those seated passenger car figures? 

I am very interested and have long surmised that N scale figures would be an excellent 3D print job but questioned that due to the absence of them.  I'll need decent quality seated operator figures for my mine loco.

After seeing all these pictures I'm tempted to buy one myself.   I've been waiting for a machine like this for several years.  Mark, can you post a picture of the back of that figure?  I'm,  uh, curious how well those high-heeled shoes printed.   N scale stilettos.  Who'd have forseen that?
