I received an email from Pacific Western Rail Systems regarding the current status of the N Scale PS 5077 boxcar project on Friday.  There are pre-production samples of all road names in the first run in the link.  They look very good.  I really like the Conrail cars.  I was a consultant on the Conrail cars, and they listened to my input and really went out of their way to make these as accurate as possible.  A common load for these Conrail X75 yellow door boxcars was Charmin bath tissue from the P&G plant in Mehoopany, PA.  I was told that there will not be many extras made beyond the advanced reservations.  Thank you.

Interesting pricing structure.  Singles are 29.98, while 3 packs are 89.98.   :?  I'd like 3 singles please, I'll pinch my 4 pennies  :D

Tempting on the early Railbox and maybe PC.

Anybody ever order anything from them? One car would be $29.98 + what for shipping?

Thanks!

Mark

Maybe there could be a group buy, and then the shipping could be split?  Similar to the BLI H32 covered hoppers a few years ago.

I agree that freight cars are getting really expensive, but I look at it this way.  These cars require no additional work to them.  Provided the ride height is good (I was told it would be, fingers crossed), they are ready to go right out of the box.  Compare this to an Atlas 50’ ACF PD boxcar.  The Atlas Car is less expensive, but you still need to add body mounted 1015’s and metal wheels.  That brings them in line with these cars price wise if you include your time.  No disrespect to Atlas, as I love the ACF PD cars, and I have added 1015’s and metal wheels to all of my forty or so cars.  Just my humble opinion. Thanks.

About effing time. They held my order for over a year because I ordered one box car and three of the (currently available) hoppers. I emailed and called. Finally got a call back starting they won't ship until the order is complete, but rest assured the cars are in my "goodie box".

But hey they took the money out right away when I ordered.

Ugh.

They charged me $14 to ship one car (I ordered 2 and they tried to charge me another $14 to ship the second one).

This seems like the one place that could benefit from a dealer network. I would never order direct from them.

So what is the safest way to buy from them? Paypal? Prepaid card?

I reserved six Conrail cars directly with PWRS.  The cars are still in production, and my CC has not been charged yet.  My hope is when the cars are in their hands, my card will be charged and my cars will be shipped.  If I were only ordering a few cars, I would look for a retail outlet.  Credit Valley maybe?

Wow  :o. So $44.00 for a single. These prototypes are optional for me, so ...
