Just ordered my first kit from N Scale Kits. Anyone have any experience with them and shipping times?

Thanks,

Mark

Fast.  I ordered and they arrived in about a week for several kits.

With cast pewter, you sure don't need to add weight and they track really well.   You will have to do filing and cleanup, take your time.   Also take your time and do some research on your prototype as you may want to add more detail; separate grabs, piping, etc.  Feel free to take it up a notch.

I do consider them great kits for practice painting, too, because unlike anything plastic, if you REALLY BOTCH the paint job, you can strip it all off and start over.

I've probably done 15 of the little log cars as they are the only accurate ones out there, and one each of most of the flats appropriate to the 70's.  My triumph was the Flexivan modified to ATSF container flat service. Even though ATSF had Mark IV converted Flexi-Van flats for containers, even after I got the Trainworx Mark IV, I kept my N scale Kits Mark 1 that I had modified because it tracks better and I got the paint color in particular right and Trainworx really didn't.   So it depends how much you put into it.

I built one of their depressed center flats. I really enjoyed it. So much so that I want to do a couple more. Maybe Pete will be in Chicago this week and I can get them in person.

I’ve built several of his kits and have a few in process right now. Here’s a few I built based on stuff I saw in the n scale enthusiast.

Oh well, it says im not allowed to post, so you don’t get to see them!

You only have 4 posts.  There's minimum you have to make before you can posts photos.  I don't remember what the nubmer is but I'm sure someone will fill you in.  In the mean time, keep on posting!  :)

You can still host them offsite (for example imgur.com) and post them.

For the N Scale Kits, ditto what everyone else is saying.  If you get stuck on something, @prbharris is always happy to help too!

My FD2 needed a lot of cleanup work, but in the end, it makes a great running and great looking model. [ Guests cannot view attachments ]
