That little loco is *hilarious*!  It even looks like it has curtains in the windows!  :)

On the diesel house front I experimented with the order of assembly of the walls and how they will fit to the base, painting then gluing together the 12 elements that make up the long South wall.  Turning these...

into this...

And *yes* you *can* see all those fiddly interior bits through the large windows

Have a great weekend!

Amazing work Mark, in any scale.

I haven't had a lot of time for modelling for way too long, so with a bit of spare time on my hands I promised myself I'd finish my 2 M-420s before I started any new projects.  So, a few minutes into that plan, I started a new project, my Briggs CP Rail chop nose RS-3 kit.  Probably one of the ugliest things on rail, but a really cool model and a nice kit.  I undercoated it white to show areas I need to tidy up and also as a base for the pre-shading paintwork.  Now I have to unexpectedly buy some CP Rail decals, plus some CN for the M-420s.

Can't wait for Jeff's C-415 kit!
Cheers

I love this ugly duckling! I have the same kit but I haven’t started it. I need to finish my two M420 and 2 M420B. Honestly it’s the handrails. I just can’t get them.

Anyway my chop nose RS3 will be in Crown Zellrbach paint.

We’re you able to retain the drive train on the front truck?

I like the Crown Zellerbach scheme.  CZ was owned by New Zealand's Fletcher Challenge Co in the 1980s.

The shell is at present on a cut down Atlas/Kato RS-3 as I didn't have a spare Atlas Classic version.  It retains both drive ends, as does another chop nosed RS-3 I have on an Atlas Classic chassis.  That is a Lamoille Valley version and isn't quite as extreme, though there is room to move.  I think both versions can be used and still retain drive on the front (rear) end.

Backdrop painting has been keeping me busy the last few weeks.   Because northeastern British Columbia is so flat I had to use a very low horizon line.   I ended up spending more time painting the clouds than the fields

When Athearn released their early style Airslides, I got rid of all my Atlas Airslides but one, a early 1990s Premier Edition in MStL scheme (I'm not even sure it's prototypical, as I have never seen a prototype photo of this scheme). The printing is bad and it looked so rough next the much more finely detailed Athearn ones, that it was stuck in a box for many years but I just couldn't get rid of it. So, recently I managed to mangle up one of my Athearn cars trying to put MT 1015's on it and decided to put some of the Athearn parts I could salvage on the Premier Edition/Atlas car to see if I could make it a bit more presentable. I used the center sill and roof, along with some Gold Medal brass stirrups and brake wheel, body mounted 1015's and FVM wheels. It took a bit of sanding and fitting to get the roof to sit correctly.  The downside is that Atlas apparently made the body about a scale foot too short to compensate for the stock roof, which is about a foot too thick. So, as you can see, the Atlas car is about a foot lower.

Anyway, it's looks a bit better and has made its way back onto the layout.

My VIA Rail FP9A got ditch lights, a head lamp, DCC, and Lee English Z scale couplers (not yet installed in this photo). It’s now assembled and running, and I can begin fixing the things I broke off of it and installing grab irons and glass.

Mark, forgive my asking, because I am sure you have posted about this somewhere before...
What equipment/tooling do you use to produce all the parts for these amazing buildings you make?  Not to mention, the indexing involved in getting all the column mounting holes lined up in the diesel house.

Making my Christmas list- want to know what to ask for. PLEASE don't say it is just an Xacto and patience....

Fantastic work.

I have a mind like a steel trap...a VERY rusty, old steel trap.

For the last year or two I have been messing around with the benefits of laser cutting.  I don't own a laser but TRW members were very helpful pointing me towards laser trade shops whom the have worked with with good success.  I am learning a ton!  One of the huge benefits to me is the underlying CAD model which allows for the creation of alignment, painting and assembly jigs which can be laser cut along with the underlying parts.

I do more than just derail threads!
Progress on these K4’s continues.  They are sanded, primed, have some details installed and are ready for some DGLE. [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

Here's a Clerihew about Ed. K.

Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
But mention his law
and you've pulled your last straw!

Alternate version:
Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

You may remember that big bare spot - last of the water damage - from some time back...

Here's a quick update - terraforming is done and I'm beginning to paint the buildings.  This is another project aided by Google Street View - the site is in my prototype area - and should prove interesting as I get further along.
