Rocket Express resin kits

Does anyone know if Rocket Express still shipping n scale kits? The last mention of them on here was a thread about 2 years ago. The website looks the same as it did years ago and the "add to cart" button does not work for me.

I'll give give them a call sometime after the holiday weekend but was wondering if anyone has dealt with them recently.

They were still shipping kits as of last December, you just have to email them to get an invoice for the quantity desired.

Has anyone here built any of their kits? Their completed models look very nice. That caboose is especially interesting. I may build one even though I don’t model Rock Island.

Just bought the boxcar at the 2018 St. Louis RPM show. The owner was there, but only had one boxcar kit and no caboose kits. But talked as if he was still producing kits, but I thought he said mostly HO.

Note that the caboose is HO.  The N scale kits are NRI-1 (boxcar w end doors) and NRI-2 (without end doors).  I built a couple.


The kit assembly is no harder than assembling a MT undec car (or one of the kits they used to make). Most of the detail is cast on.  The stirrups (I need to paint them in the photo) and brake wheel are MT parts. Painted mine with Rapido Proto Paint (acrylic)- boxcar red #4. The toughest challenge is fitting the lettering around the bracing- patience required.  They supply a nice lettering diagram, and the included decals are first rate.

Just a follow up that these are still available. I sent an email and was given instructions to send check and ordering info and they send product. Pleasantly reminiscent of the "old days" of model train commerce.

Just a side note that Red River Models has a craftsman kit of a T&P style Muley Caboose kit with side door.  I have built some of their laser kits and am impressed with the quality.  Doug
