Very exciting to see Tangent in N!  And welcome to Railwire!  (Sorry we blew your cover though....  :x)

It was publicly available on their website. If they were worried someone would find it, wait till the day of the announcement and then upload a single PDF like other sites.

One of the downsides of WordPress. And leaving the folder wide open. From the shots, they look like beautiful cars, none of which I need, but the trucks and wheels might be of interest.

Air Hoses:

36" wheels:

100T (Barber?) trucks. Looks like the bolster is even lower than BLMA's. Nice!

Bethlehem Steel Quads?

Looks Pretty far along in production. Also, looks like they use the same "medium" box that IM, Atlas and others use. Good call!

Can't view any of those images.

When I go to the Tangent website, I get this message:

The hoppers look great and will be very welcome on my layout, but can someone enlighten me as to how these cars differ from the Trainworx quad hoppers?

Great to see the 100T trucks!!  (I'm guessing this is the same tooling as BLMA's?)

Gary,

The prototype for the new Tangent quad hopper is on the left, and the prototype for the Trainworx quad hopper is on the right.

I will definitely need a fleet of the Tangent models for my sugar beet trains!

And here is a Google Street View of a sugar beet train being loaded at the Pingree, Idaho beet dump in October 2012.

As you "drive" south along the train you will see plenty of the prototypes for the Tangent and Trainworx quad hoppers, as well as prototypes for the Atlas three bay hoppers.   :D

So is it Tangent whose HO business model has been to announce their new releases once product has arrived in their warehouse and is ready to ship immediately?

I wonder if they'll have direct sales at KC?

Anyway, a welcome addition to the fleet and a great development for N!

I could make out the built date on one of the hoppers as 1977, so I assume this is a more modern hopper as opposed to the Trainworx quad?
I’m not here to argue

In the east B&LE and Clinchfield had these, I could use these for sure, there used to be a whole train of B&LE cars that ran on Chessie back in the late 70s and early 80s.

No, don't do that. Don't use a black car and try to paint it yellow. That will never work. You'll need too much paint (as can be seen on this example).

100 ton BLMA, sorry Tangent trucks, I love you guys.   ;)

Illinois Central and ICG also had similar cars...this thread just got really expensive...

They were all built about the same time, just different designs.  DRGW (Trainworx) received their last batch in 1982.

Yes, and if they can meet demand on the 36 in wheels and the trucks . . . to say nothing of the air hoses . . .
