I guess there are so many stories tied up in one telling shot about railroads and the demise of passenger transportation etc.

$61 for a single slide?!

That said, it is a gorgeous picture.  It would be great to have both from Kato, but hopefully I'll at least see the NCL before God takes me home.

And an E7.

Jason

I'm sure you are aware that Kato will be releasing an E7 with the Twentieth Century Limited.  What us Burlington fans need is a dual headlight, passenger pilot, non-dynamic brake E7.  The NYC release will be single headlight, so close but not quite.

Pretty excited about the forthcoming Kato E7, will make good power for the Gopher/Badger.

That eBay seller has some really neat stuff, it’s amazing how much one single 35mm slide will bring in auction. I have watched some of his other slides, but they sell for way more money than I’m willing to spend.
I’m not here to argue

The Hill Lines votes got split between the EB and the NCL.  Then the undivided NYC guys win the voting and Kato announces a 20th Century.

Man, if people don't buy the east coast train again (nightmares of the Broadway Limited) and Kato gets gun shy about big name trains again, it could be another 10 years before we're back in the running for an NCL or real EB.

Say it ain't so!

I still feel that the Broadway Limited was a victim of the economy taking a massive dump just in time for it to arrive in stores. Not being flashy and timing really worked against it.

The Hill Lines votes got split three ways, NCL, EB and Twin Cities Zephyr.

That said, I think the 20th Century Limited is a pretty safe bet for Kato.

I don’t see how the NYC sales would impact the NCL or EB. The poll is fun and cute but hardly telling on demand for a product.

I think this is absolutely correct.  I also think Kato is smart enough to understand this as well.  Nobody was buying nothing in 2008.  I bought the first release Broadway cars and E8's via advance reservation with BLW. BLW was always very timely, so when I got mine in October and November 2008, that had to be when they first came out.  Could Kato have had any worse luck on timing?  I think not.....

By the time things started getting better they had a new release on the way and plenty of BL stock to get rid of.

While I am not an east coast fan and don’t care for the NYC I will still buy a set to promote the sales of the car set and E7’s.

Someone who is rather well known in the field  of N scale product once stated that the Penn was a "third tier" road, while the NYC was a "first tier" road.  Perhaps the poor Broadway Limited sales prove that.

B&O is a "borderline first/second tier road".  I would hope for a Capitol Limited.  I like the E-7s but have little use for them in NYC, as they did not often appear on the P&LE.  If Kato were to do E-7s in B&O, THAT might be something different.  I sold my LLs because they were dual headlight.

They probable sold more CZ’s in the downturn than Broadway Limiteds, even with it being the third run or whatever.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm a NYC fan but I still bought one each of all the CZ sets.
