Finished up one of these 2nd generation gensets...
Just one thing I might add and the inner fog lines on your road should be yellow.Jon https://binged.it/2tvjxNy
Thanks, Jon! (How did I miss that?) Change will be made.
Edit: Still admiring that picture and I just discovered something. What happened to the front pilot ? Did it break off ? It seems to tilt downwards and touch the ground.Jane
I agree, adding the highway was a great idea. So how did you paint the lines? Little N scale line-painting truck?
Very hard to believe that Jim misses anything- if you visit his layout - his attention to detail, and his progressive refinement technique is clearly evident.Kind regards,Bill
From a side profile you can see that the walkway is a little warped concave down
Bonus view after weathering
That's a shame. One reason I am (still) not a big fan of shapeways, you spend all that time and effort with their products and you can end up with a warped model. Warped or not, that is another stunning look. Very well done. Did you do the etchings ? Do you offer them for sale as well ?Jane
Believe it or not, I actually didn't make any etchings for this model, fans are hand cut from 0.2mm nickel silver and bent to shape(nobody makes an 8 blade 52" fan, the 11 blade SD70ACe ones from Trainworx are close), handrail stanchions are GMM parts and the fan grills are nylon teabag material cut to fit (probably my favorite paintable fine mesh material to use for models)
You may recall the disaster that befell the Sub because of a leaky valve in the kitchen above (disregard the fact that the total insurance settlement went to nearly 50k) and caused some scenery damage - here's a shot to refresh your memory:Making lemonade from lemons, here's what I've come up with:And a couple of closer shots from either end:I'm pleased with the progress so far; the road is based on the one that crosses the real thing near Keene, and thanks to Google's street view I can capture the details nicely.
