Even with all the announcements, my wallet seems pretty safe.  Nothing out there screaming " YOU MUST BUY ME !!! "  I already have the MT DODX sets ordered, and will need some bulk trailers when they come out, but they aren't officially announced for undec release etc.

ATL - BLMA detail parts Q3.

Thanks for all the pictures and info. BLMA, does that mean new detail parts or finally restocking what is still missing so far from what was regularly available ex-stock from Craig ?

With Kato doing new models like the E7 and FP7, it makes me wonder: will we ever see Kato sell these models sans trainsets in multiple roadnames like they did in the late 90s?

The announcement wasn’t that specific unfortunately, only that the BLMA detail parts would be available 3rd quarter.

E7 B units will cross over to many popular roadnames. UP & SP plus Pennsylvania if they get really brave.

Yes, but a lot of variations.  At best, the closest the NYC units would come to our CB&Q units would still require a dual headlight option.

That's a great question.  At least with the FP7, they sell undecorated shells.  That's not the perfect solution, but it sure helps.

Based on how the F units have been marketed in recent years, I would say it’s unlikely. Maybe two or three roads in one release but no more than that.

When I was speaking with Alex yesterday , I got the feeling that some of the new tooling was for different Pullman cars for the 20C, and he and I were discussing the differences between the NYC greys and the Lark greys. Besides my raffle wins at the banquet, I leave the NSE happy to know that my money will be spent on my other “favorite” Train next year (since I already have the Daylight)

I hope Mr. Lunde brings the same qualities to his smaller buildings as his larger ones have - square, tight fitting cores with separate window castings for starters...

I'm not following.  Are you suggesting that Kato will also be releasing the Lark next year?  Or, is your "other favorite train" the 20th Century Limited?

I wouldn't expect anything less. If anything, the recent releases were even better than the earlier ones (which were already very well done). I wonder why even considering that they could be inferior?  Have you recently had a bad experience with Lunde kits?

The 20th Century. And, this will be the correct version for Cary Grant and Eva Marie Saint, so I guess I will need to model a corn field being crop dusted, too.

I want a Lark,  too, just isn’t on my top tier of favorites.

Hasn’t Kato made E8/9 units with single and dual headlight?  They have with F units as well, so I have no reason to believe they won’t make different variations to sell more UP, SP, CB&Q.  It would also lend itself well to a proper Empire Builder.

At a minimum, you need to look at numberboard variations, dynamic brakes vs. non, freight vs. passenger pilot, single vs. dual headlight.  Kato did release the E8/9s in CB&Q, but they had dynamic brakes which were not correct (I still bought and enjoy them!).  I don't believe they have ever released an E8/9 shell correct for the CB&Q (passenger pilot, dual headlight, non-dynamic brake).  IIRC, the Empire Builder E7 would be the same as the CB&Q (per above factors), so we'll see.

I have the Q E units packed in a box.  All your options listed are well within their ability, just a matter if they choose to do it.
