I read somewhere that they were to announce 6 products this morning...  :?

I'm guessing the breakfast is still going on and the folks that went are still mingling with others

That's hilarious.  We need our fine folks who are at the convention to show the same haste in spreading the news to the rest of us.  They need to step away from the pastries and get on their smart phones/computers.

Lemme see, Alex....ummmm....What is ... the Kato...Hudson?
We can hope, can't we?

(post announcement edit)

I'm sorry, Tom, that is not the correct question- we were looking for is "What is the 20th Century Limited"

Our prize today for last place is this box of old Con Cor Hudson parts, plus this N scale crowbar....

That's what I'm waiting for!  It was reported several places that Kato is announcing six new releases at this morning's manufacturer's breakfast; three based upon new tooling.  No consistent reports if these are N, HO, individual locos/cars, passenger sets, etc.  From what I can see on the website, the Mfg breakfast should be over in less than four hours, so hopefully somebody will report back.

I don't think that many of us expect much correlation between Kato's website polls and what will actually be announced.  While they are an interesting glimpse into what modelers may be interested in, they are hardly scientific and Kato's marketing expertise extends far beyond just taking internet polls.  (I guess I just jinxed myself and today they will announce the 20th Century Limited instead of the NCL)

We'll, I guess y'all can thank or blame me!

Thanks!!  We already knew about the COLA.  Super Chief and El Cap re-releases were probably about due, as were a re-release of the F7s.  I'm hoping/guessing the ATSF PAs will be new tooling that will place and light the number over the center of the cab.  Perhaps some SF fans would like to comment on that.  I never bought the PAs, hoping for an eventual re-release.  This should suit me just fine.  The 20th Century must count for two new tooling efforts (E7s and the train set).  I'm more excited about the E7s than the train, but will likely buy both.

The E7 release may be the death knell for my E5B hopes, as they may ultimately release an E7 in CB&Q that would better serve any future Zephyr releases (both CZ and otherwise).

Well, if I get a part time job now to supplement the retirement income, I should just about be able to fund the equipment acquisitions in Q2 of 2019.  Oh, wait, single window coaches promised for early next year also.....make that a full time job.

LOL.  I doubt that all that stuff will hit the streets during the second quarter 2019.  Likely further clarification coming.

Thanks for the info Bryan....and everybody. With Atlas doing new frames for their loco's, maybe we can get the RS3 with DCC?

There may be delays, but Kato is remarkably better than most- either way I will still need a pile of cash to pay for it whenever it does arrive.  After all, Santa Fe modelers are obligated to buy F units in multiples of 3 or 4, and I've been waiting on single window coaches for a decade, at least.

Now to figure out if it is the early or F style number board E7s being produced. Hopefully both are planned.

From the photos I've looked at, it looks like the NYC E7's also were equipped with both passenger and freight style pilots.  They do appear to be all non-dynamic brake and single headlight.  Hopefully we'll have some knowledgeable NYC fan weigh in to educate us on what a 50's release might contain.  It's also not clear to me if they would run as an AA set, an ABA set or something else.  NYC had 36 A units and 14 B units, so it could have been a lot of combinations.
