Nice!  I'll definitely get a CN unit for some cool foreign road power.   8)

A pair of CN.CA run through power for me. One of the coolest looking modern locos around.
Which ever side of the track I am on is the right side.

And at least we now know that the new loco will not be steam*, but a narrow-hood Diesel, probably of some obscure Canadien prototype.  :D

Hopefully it will be "an obscure Canadian prototype" say BC Rail or even more obscure British Columbia Railway or even more obscure Pacific Great Eastern.  As long as it's not Conrail or NS.

*****Damn, should have read the previous posts before posting this.  Oh well, both CN and BC Rail had these so things are looking up.*****

Awesome choice for N scale! They are still seen roaming the NE, so for sure will grab one. One of the cooler foreign power finds around.

Neat!!!

But again, just missing my era.

I'll say this though... please work on the size of the "panel gaps" modeled on it. The engraving is just a bit heavy and wide.

I can't help but to smile.
My pleas about the infamous (to me, and to few others) board gaps in their meat reefers did nothing.  These are test shots (assuming from the final version of their molds).  Probably too late to make changes.  Maybe they'll use thick paint to fill those gaps.  :D  Yes, I'm being facetious.

Canadian Pacific didn’t have any. CP had SD40-2F’s that were their “Red barns”.

Anyone know the truck centers on the C40-8M? Have a Shapeways HR-616 shell and thinking this may be the best chassis for it if the centers are close.

Is the C40-8M different from the regular C40-8(W)? If they are the same, could you use the Atlas chassis?

Different... rides on Dofasco trucks (like the MLW M630/M636). Confident the spacings are different from C40-8W.

The 8-40CM rides on Dofasco trucks from MLW locomotives, which is what would make it enticing to use to under a HR616 rather than the Atlas 8-40CW.
Kaslo offered just the Rapido 8-40CM chassis in HO scale and notes on the page the trucks are correct for the HR616 as well. The page doesn't actually say whether or not the chassis is correct on other details, like truck spacing, for a HR616.

How confident are you?  Both are 70'-8" long.  I'm sure that for a model the same mech could be used with different trucks.  Of course, one would want to fill all the empty space inside the 'M' with some weight...
