Good progress on the structures, Mark.  Looking forward to replacing my cardboard mock-ups one day . . .

Another week, another control panel installed at Chetwynd.  The panel for the South Ladder is in and working well:

I have secured all of the toggle wire runs for the first three panels underneath the layout.  With many of the turnouts now operable from the fascia, it is possible to run around the yard with a locomotive and start working to resolve any issues with turnouts, etc.  So far, not too many, and as was the case with my yard at Dawson Creek, the performance of the trackwork seems to improve with use.  In this view taken just south of the station at Chetwynd, we see C-425 No. 810 heading up the south ladder with the track cleaning car:

It will have to take West Siding 2 as I have yet to get the new throw wire for West Siding 3 cut down . . .

Nice!
Is there a Battlezone somewhere in that bunch (out of the picture)?  That was probably my all-time favorite arcade game in the '80s!

No, I didn't see any Battlezones there, but that doesn't mean there wasn't one.

I'm laying out my own panels just now. What's your minimum clearance (on the control panel) between toggles and do find find there's enough space for fingers to work the switches?

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

I am once again a seasonal modeler  :|

Been working on my VW pretty much everyday. Got the air ride all done. I drew some mounts up with CAD and had them cut in steel with a CNC plasma cutter  :D  I got the body back on the frame and just minutes ago started it for the first time. The lighter green background color will be the body color... someday.

Chris seriously does not mess around!!

Holy cow!  I'm back in the layout room after a few months of little motivation to model or run trains.  However, thanks to @jdcolombo, I've remapped the Function Keys on this Atlas MP15DC with a LokSound decoder and am now playing with Drive Hold, Independent Brake, Run8, and Coast.  What a completely different way to run trains that feels and sounds much more realistic!

Mission accomplished for this weekend. Before I paint the roofs black, I'm looking for any welded series C170-C269 that had red roofs. I've found C187 so far. Anybody know of any others? Any help would be appreciated.

Got a little work done on my Lark.

77-D-11 Coffee shop/Lounge #20401

Frame and roof have been shortened. Under frame detail has been added. Trucks assembled.
Next -- adding the roof detail.

Thanks,
Wolf

Well, the only successful project this weekend is the near-completion of the 3D C39-8:(  I still have to paint the couplers the usual "Rust" color.   I decided to do a pseudo-Conrail scheme, since it will be a repainted FCLX lease unit.

On the 3D C40-8M, I painted, what I thought was the correct color for CN Red/Orange.  Turns out it wasn't.   (Curse of the CWR disaster).   So, I bought the "RIGHT" color online.  It still should work out, since the FUD seems to soak up the "water paints" (acrylics') that I use.

For the C39, now all I have to do, is to dig through my jewel case parts box and find a new home for the little guy.  I have already printed-out a new case liner for him....

Total car length with load 24.5”. That is just over 326 N Scale Feet.

Sorry, didn't see the dims in your post.  After the CWR Disaster, I have had a "Brain-dead" weekend..   (Thank GOD, I got the C39 done before that).

Think I will stick with finishing up the house, for the rest of the weekend.  That seems to be going without a hitch!  :)

My tracks are drawn 1/4" apart, and the diagonal ladders are on a 22.5 degree angle which puts the toggles 1/2 inch apart.  I had to avoid putting toggles directly above each other as 1/4 inch is too close; the hex nuts securing the toggles do not clear each other.

So far the spacing seems to be working for those who have operated here, which isn't many as I am not yet fully operational.  Some might prefer larger panels but I was constrained by the depth of my fascia.  The size and spacing does require one to look a little more closely, which isn't necessarily a bad thing . . .

It’s all good. You do realize by finishing the C39, you just guaranteed that ScaleTrains will announce that engine at the NSE convention next week...

I've been working on this a little at a time for the last month.  The hardest part for me is taking the photos.  A cut-away building has been on my bucket list and I have finally gotten around to it  Maybe this is to make up for never having a daughter to build a doll house for.

Walthers Hardwood Furniture cut in half.

Since I didn't want to see the inside rim of the windows I cut a lot of Evergreen strip into interior walls. Supports for each floor were built into the walls. I bought 3 cans of spray paint before finding the industrial green that reminds me of my factorty work years at Benjamin Moore.

The backside of the walls needed fill strips to make them stand off to compensate for the thickness of the kit's windows.

Progress made this weekend.  The upper floors and posts are just set in place temporarily.  The post for the lowest level are drying on the paint rack and I need to make the elevator shaft (which will hide wiring for the lights)for the upper floors. The roof is just temporary from the kit.  You may have noticed that I bought a new self-healing mat since the first photos were taken.  BTW the camera makes the building look like it slopes outward.  After seeing the photo I ran up to my shop to measure and confirm that it is, in fact, square.

Best regards,

Roger

Started scenery on my Upper Lehigh Line Layout. Finally have something show-worthy.  This is Rockport Tunnel in the Lehigh Gorge. Late fall, now it’s time to get busy on some trees. [ Guests cannot view attachments ]
