Peteski:  As far as I know, no, the draft gear is fixed.  I THINK, but an not certain, that the springs are to keep slack from running in/out too fast.  My AAR Interchange Rules book lists various types of draft gear, including "friction", "rubber", "rubber friction" and "transverse spring and rod", which this one seems to be.

It does not say what the various devices are for, probably assuming that anyone inspecting or repairing the car would know that.  Unfortunately, I've never been. or known, a car inspector.

Mopar Sublime?

It is a Chevy Spark color. I'm sure everyone has seen the green ones running around:
https://www.google.com/search?q=Chevy%20spark%202016%20green%20-site%3Apinterest.*&num=30&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiYgdGGgsbbAhWH-lQKHTK7Bd4Q_AUICigB&biw=1280&bih=633
The color has green, yellow, copper, and aluminium in it.

Air ride. This was a month ago when I first got it together.
/>Car was a swing axle, I welded in IRS mounts and converted it. Plus a lot of other stuff like flipping the arm left to right so there is less rear camber.

That's going to be a quite a ride! That color is quite an attention-getter. Can't wait to see the videos of the finished product.

After much procrastination of several weeks on my Erie/EL Dunmore project, I awoke one day with enough motivation to tackle N scale grab irons. I was absolutely dreading drilling 36 #80 drill holes and installing 16 grab irons per caboose. This was a major mental block. As with anything, the more I did, the better I got, and began to somewhat enjoy it. At first, I would lose about 50% of the etchings I would handle, but I soon got that under control, now I only lose 20%. The primer and high definition camera revealed some areas that need sanding before the main paint job. I hope to have these six in red by Sunday night.

Test fitting the load. 24.5” long.
(Attachment Link)

So what is the minimum radius for that contraption?  Seems like even a layout with prototypically broad curves would still have a prototypical routing problem.

I'm back East visiting family this weekend, but got the HOn3 Rio Grande Southern this far before departing:

I've also been working on an operating scheme for it so have been developing a switch list sheet and will use the car card and waybill system from Micro Mark that I'd purchased for the Juniata Division but never really made work.  It'll be much easier to use for a road where off-line origins and destinations are much more limited and the commodities are also limited.

Also developing track diagrams for the two major towns to help with operations:

Unloaded it can run any normal route. Once I get the load attached I will be able to test that as well.
Here’s the unloaded car on a 22” curve (my minimum radius)”

Thanks! That Warhol-like artwork is a DKS original (from the Passel of Peteskis thread in the Lounge section).  I like it too.

OK, here's the scoop on this little guy...I found decals for their earlier paint scheme on Ebay, and I used Microscale black stripe decals in place of the original yellow ones..I don't know who made them but they are pretty good decals. I used my own black circle and MEC car decals for the numbers..Oh, and it's painted AccuPaint Vermillion, Tru Line should be the same color

Don't hesitate, and yes, you really get 10 sets

How Long is that Thing?!!  :o

Jerry G.

Total car length with load 24.5”. That is just over 326 N Scale Feet.

While the Nelson Diesel House parts have been out for laser cutting, I finished the laser cut Nelson freight house and South Slocan station models.

Diesel house-wise, I picked up the ALPS-printed Mylar sheets of fine window mullions from my friend Brian Pate last week and I believe that five, 11"x14" sheets of laser cut parts were mailed to me yesterday.  This will be quite a build!

Finally, I have a friend contemplating modelling the Boundary sub in N scale - but in the 40's and 50's - so I ran a quick pusher test of 20 XMs and a caboose with one Bachman consolidated on the point and one pushing in front of the caboose.  I was very happy with the results.

Have a great weekend.
