There is nothing plug and play for a BLI loco except the built in Paragon 2/3 decoder.  You can remove the Paragon and substitute a wired decoder of your favorite brand if you like but due to the construction you will be doing point to point wiring on the chassis.

That is disappointing news.

My BLI PRR DGLE E7s arrived today. The A unit DOES have Trainphone antennae. These units appear to be sold out at MB Klein. I wonder if they will be getting more?

Two DL&W E8s arrived today. I was worried about the paint and would it match my custom painted and decaled Phoebe Snow.
I was most worried about the grey as the IM DL&W/ E-L grey was more like robin's egg blue. The grey is very good, but the
maroon is a bit too brown, which I can live with. Overall the paint and lettering are excellent. One thing I did notice was that the horns appear to be two different sizes.???
The Lackawanna E8s had a 3 chime on the engineer's side and a single on the other, is this an attempt at road specific details? I'll change the horn anyway, but are other road
name like this? I'm pretty happy with the looks and it saved me from having to paint and decal 2 undecs.
I'll test run them on DC tomorrow, and
DCC next week.

I received my two DL&W E8s yesterday and ran them light for about 15 minutes, they ran and sounded great. I will be replacing the BLI wheels with Kato wheels to get rid of the traction tires.  The Kato wheels are just a little larger and the reason I'm changing them all.

I got mine today. They run great but one of the wheels is out of gauge and won't make it through any switches. Anyone know the right way to regauge these wheels?

ATSF E8's soon to be inbound...  Hope they are better than my F units (urgh, narrow gear faces and too light).  I already have an E6 set and earlier E8s, plus two sets of PA-1s.  Wooo!

I removed the traction tires on my two DL&W E8s and they pull my 16 car passenger train up my 1+ percent grade with ease. They run and sound great on my layout and I haven't cleaned it for several months.

Shouldn't the E8s be the same as from the last run?  Mark gave those an "A".

The more people posting there experiences with a n-scale model the better, IMO.

Not quite the same - the big difference between this release and the previous release is the Paragon3 decoder (w/ Rolling Thunder).

As discussed elsewhere, I had all sorts of pickup and/or decoder problems with a pair of E6's from this current production run (eventually had to return them for a refund). But I seem to be in the minority there.

You're rigth of course.  My reply was more geared (pun intended) towards answering the mechanical-type question posted by drbnc. Specifically the "(urgh, narrow gear faces and too light)" part.  Those items are likely left unchanged from the previous release.

Correct, nothing changed with the trucks.

I called BLI this week to ask how they recommend to get the wheels back in gauge. The lady I spoke with wasn’t sure but shipped me a new set to replace them.

My E6 AB set arrived and I got them on the track last night. Look fantastic and ran very nice. Bettter than my E units from the last run.

I assume that they are too narrow (I don't think I have ever seen a model loco where the gauge was too wide).  Couldn't you just pull the wheels outward a bit (like people do on Atlas and Kato models all the time)?
