There is nothing plug and play for a BLI loco except the built in Paragon 2/3 decoder. You can remove the Paragon and substitute a wired decoder of your favorite brand if you like but due to the construction you will be doing point to point wiring on the chassis.
ATSF E8's soon to be inbound... Hope they are better than my F units (urgh, narrow gear faces and too light). I already have an E6 set and earlier E8s, plus two sets of PA-1s. Wooo!
Shouldn't the E8s be the same as from the last run? Mark gave those an "A". http://spookshow.net/loco/pcme7.html
Not quite the same - the big difference between this release and the previous release is the Paragon3 decoder (w/ Rolling Thunder). As discussed elsewhere, I had all sorts of pickup and/or decoder problems with a pair of E6's from this current production run (eventually had to return them for a refund). But I seem to be in the minority there.-Mark
You're rigth of course. My reply was more geared (pun intended) towards answering the mechanical-type question posted by drbnc. Specifically the "(urgh, narrow gear faces and too light)" part. Those items are likely left unchanged from the previous release.
I got mine today. They run great but one of the wheels is out of gauge and won't make it through any switches. Anyone know the right way to regauge these wheels?
I called BLI this week to ask how they recommend to get the wheels back in gauge. The lady I spoke with wasn’t sure but shipped me a new set to replace them.
