I feel like foam will still work. You only need a little bit of leverage to make it work.
The foam we used on the top of it to bring the ground up to the track might be perfect.

I know this is a bit too late now but for the next module, the Unitrack is sticking out too far.  The edge of the track should be just about flush with the edge of the module with only the track connector sticking out.  In your photos it looks like the track itself is sticking beyond the module edge too far, from the looks of it about 3-4mm.  Double that since you have two modules in a connection and the gap becomes apparent.

I don't think I've ever seen a road sign saying "Road Crossing Ahead", just the usual pictorial "+".

It's the old Oxford Branch in Easton.. now a rail trail.  The sign is an admonishment to cyclists to dismount and be on the lookout for wayward octogenarians in their late model Le Sabres...  The place is crawling with them...

I really like that. I use the track pieces as a guide, but I like the mounting jig. The issue for me was that I didn't properly double the length of the frame to accommodate the missing gap in the middle. I'm probably going to have this issue some more (ten times more, now that I think about it). I like the foam idea to fix it.

Depending if you have a good table saw or not, you can cut a thin piece of filler wood the thickness of the over hanging Unitrack(s) so it ends flush, with only the joiners sticking out.  Just glue it to the ends of the modules.

We've still got to add some trees and get the turnout working again. The throwbar seems to have come disconnected from the points.
